摘要Objectives:Healthcare students experience significant stress due to their rigorous graduate school curricula. These levels of stress are associated with higher risks of depression,self-harm,and exhaustion.Coping interventions have been shown to help students develop healthy stress coping strategies. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the diverse array of coping interventions and what characteristics of coping interventions were most effective at decreasing stress among healthcare students. Methods:Any intervention designed to address coping for academic stress was included among medical, dental, nursing, physician assistant, allied health,veterinary,psychology,etc.students.A comprehensive literature search was completed to include multiple databases,Ancestry, and hand-searching from EBSCO and Google Scholar articles.A final total of 17 studies were included.Standardized mean difference effect sizes(ES)were synthesized across studies using a random-effects model in the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Software for changes in coping levels in healthcare students.Moderator analyses were performed to explore the study, intervention, and participants’characteristics. The risk of bias was assessed by RoB2 and ROBINS-I.Results:Coping interventions significantly reduced stress outcomes among healthcare students(d=0.74;95%CI[0.48–1.01],95%PI[−0.41–1.90],p<0.001,Q=228.49,I2=93.0%,T=0.52,T2=0.28,p<0.001).Moderator analysis showed that interventions with stress education, established professional guidance, and fewer hours led to better stress management outcomes. Conclusions:This study demonstrates that coping interventions produce an overall moderate-to-large effect on stress reduction.Future research investigating coping interventions on academic and long-term outcomes would be beneficial.
摘要Traumatic experiences are known to have impacts on well-being;however,factors that may shape or moderate these effects remain underexplored, particularly within caregiving contexts. This study investigated the association between secondary traumatic stress and life satisfaction among informal caregivers in subacute hospital care,as well as the moderating role of positive religious coping and gender in this relationship.A total of 194 informal caregivers(68 males,126 females;aged 15–70 years,M=31.5,SD=8.9)of inpatients at a Nigerian orthopaedic hospital participated in the study.Data were collected using the Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale(STSS),the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SwLS),and the Brief Religious COPE.Results from the moderated mediation analysis revealed that secondary traumatic stress was associated with lower life satisfaction, and that positive religious coping mediated this relationship.Caregivers attending to male patients reported greater use of positive religious coping than those caring for female patients. In addition, positive religious coping predicted higher life satisfaction among female caregivers compared to their male counterparts. These findings extend Pargament’s theory of religious coping by highlighting how individuals employ religious beliefs and practices to navigate stressful life experiences. The results substantiate the need for healthcare professionals to recognize symptoms indicative of secondary trauma among informal caregivers, given its potential impact on patient care.It is important to consider gendered patterns of positive religious coping when supporting caregivers in mitigating secondary traumatic stress.
摘要Background:Self-esteem,life satisfaction, resilience, and coping strategies are closely linked to depression;however, their interrelationships and relative contributions to depressive outcomes remain insufficiently understood. This study aimed to examine these associations in individuals with major depressive disorder(MDD)and healthy controls and to evaluate their predictive and mediating roles in depression. Methods:This analytical cross-sectional study included 311 participants(158 patients with MDD and 153 healthy controls)recruited from the Psychiatry Outpatient Clinics of Mugla Training and Research Hospital.Psychiatric diagnoses were confirmed using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5(SCID-5).Groups were balanced for age, sex, and education using propensity score matching(PSM).Participants completed the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale,Satisfaction with Life Scale,Brief Resilience Scale,Brief COPE Inventory, and Beck Depression Inventory. Results:Compared with healthy controls, individuals with MDD reported significantly lower life satisfaction and resilience and higher depressive symptom severity, whereas self-esteem did not differ significantly between groups.Emotion-focused coping decreased with increasing depression severity, while avoidant coping showed a modest but significant increase in severe depression.Logistic regression analyses identified life satisfaction(OR=0.95,p=0.004)and resilience(OR=0.92,p=0.002)as significant protective predictors of depression.Mediation analyses demonstrated that life satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between self-esteem and depression, whereas resilience exerted a predominantly direct effect. Conclusion:Life satisfaction and resilience emerge as key protective factors against depression.Self-esteem appears to influence depressive outcomes indirectly through life satisfaction rather than through a direct effect. These findings underscore the importance of interventions that enhance resilience and promote positive evaluations of life in individuals at risk for depression.
摘要BACKGROUND Major depressive disorder(MDD)is a debilitating and commonly prevalent mental health condition that impacts around 5%of the global population. It is recognised as one of the leading causes of disability worldwide.Understanding the factors that influence the severity and progression of MDD,such as perceived social support, subjective well-being,coping mechanisms, personality traits, and social media addiction, can help enhance the development of effective treatment and pre-vention strategies.AIM To analyse the relationship between perceived social supports, subjective wellbeing, coping styles, personality traits, and social media addiction among adult patients with MDD,and compare these factors with those of adult patients with MDD who are in remission.METHODS All participants aged 18 to 60 years who were attending the adult psychiatry outpatient department were initially screened for eligibility. The investigator has obtained informed consent. The participants were divided into two groups:The study group[Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAM-D)score>7]and the comparator group(HAM-D score≤7).Standardised assessment tools,Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support,World Health Organization-5 Wellbeing Index,Brief COPE Inventory,HAM-D,Social Networking Addiction Scale(SNAS),and Personality Inventory for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Brief Form, were applied to all the participants in both groups.RESULTS A total of 140 patients were recruited in the study(70 symptomatic and 70 in remission).Patients who were in remission showed significantly higher mean Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support scores(48.70±11.01)as compared to symptomatic patients(33.00±15.37).The World Health Organization wellbeing was significantly lower in symptomatic patients(7.93±1.75)as compared with those who were in remission(13.90±1.61).The mean SNAS scores were higher in symptomatic patients(72.37±19.83)compared to patients in remission(67.03±28.09).Problem-focused coping showed a significant negative correlation with SNAS scores(r=-0.334,P=0.005)and HAM-D scores(r=-0.273,P=0.022).Among personality trait domains, disinhibition had a strong positive and significant correlation(r=0.515,P<0.001)with SNAS scores.Detachment and psychoticism were significantly higher in symptomatic patients. In social media addiction, tolerance, withdrawal, and relapse were significantly higher in symptomatic patients in comparison to those in remission.CONCLUSION This research emphasises the rising importance of digital behaviour patterns among psychiatric groups.More screen time and problematic social media use were linked to depression symptoms and reduced psychosocial functioning.Adding behavioural interventions that focus on digital hygiene, improving coping skills, and re-engaging social abilities could serve as useful complements to conventional drug and therapy approaches.

摘要Background:The phenomenon of academic anxiety has been demonstrated to exert a considerable influence on students’academic engagement, leading to the emergence of a phenomenon known as“learned helplessness”and undermining the selfconfidence and motivation of high school students.Using acceptance-rejection theory, this study elucidated how a rejective parenting style affects Chinese high school students’academic anxiety and explored the urban-rural heterogeneity of this relationship. Methods:Data were analyzed using a stratified whole-cluster random sampling method. There are a total of 30,000 high school students in the three regions of northern and central China(from Shanxi,Hebei and Henan).A sample of 2286 high school students aged 14–19 years was ultimately selected from 2760 respondents for this investigation, which was conducted at the beginning of the 2023 school year.Pearson correlation, ordinary least squares(OLS)regression analysis, path analysis, and Fisher’s permutation test(FPT)were used to examine the effects of rejective parenting style on high school students’academic anxiety. Results:Results indicated a significant positive predictive effect between rejective parenting style and academic anxiety among high school students(β=0.815,t=116.211,p<0.001).Students’self-concept was significantly positively related to positive coping style(β=0.424,t=21.208,p<0.001)and chain-mediated this relationship. Therefore, this parenting style may indirectly mitigate academic anxiety through these mediators. The study also found that the effect of rejective parenting style on academic anxiety varied by students’residential background and was more pronounced in urban areas(0.226)than in rural areas(0.130).Conclusion:The research underscores the imperative for Chinese families to reexamine their utilization of rejection parenting and to prioritize the cultivation of students’intrinsic attributes. These findings offer a theoretical framework and practical evidence for policymakers and educators to develop efficacious and targeted interventions. In particular, greater attention should be directed towards the discrepancies in the manifestation of emotional and academic anxiety between urban and rural students, and prompt guidance should be furnished.
摘要This study explored how perceived social support(PSS)influences the sense of meaning in life(SML)among rural college students, considering positive coping styles(PCS)as a mediator and psychological resilience(PR)as a moderator.1444 college students(females;23.55%only child;Mage=19.76 years,SD=1.07;76.66%)were recruited from Jilin province in China. The college students self-reported their perceived social support and positive coping styles, psychological resilience, and sense of meaning in life. The results indicated that higher perceived social support predicted higher college students’sense of meaning in life.Perceived social support positively contributes to college students’sense of meaning in life through the mediating role of positive coping styles.Psychological resilience moderates the first path of the indirect association, where the positive effect of perceived social support on positive coping styles is more pronounced in college students with higher psychological resilience compared to those with lower psychological resilience. These align with Social Support Theory and Psychological Resilience Theory. That is,individuals with effective social support systems can enhance their positive coping styles, thereby increasing their sense of meaning in life, while psychological resilience strengthens the positive impact of perceived social support on positive coping styles. These findings offer the evidence for intervening and supporting the development of college students’sense of meaning in life.To enhance rural college students’sense of meaning in life,it is essential to establish a comprehensive social support system, promote the development of positive coping styles, and provide targeted training to strengthen psychological resilience.

摘要BACKGROUND Death anxiety(DA)is a prevalent psychological challenge among oncology nurses that affects their emotional well-being and professional competence in coping with death-related situations.Death-related attitudes and resilience are critical factors that may mediate the relationship between DA and coping with death competence(CDC).However, few studies have examined the chain-mediating effect of these factors among Chinese oncology nurses. This study aimed to investigate the association between DA and CDC among Chinese oncology nurses, with a focus on the mediating roles of death attitude and resilience.AIM To investigate the association between DA and CDC among Chinese oncology nurses.using an electronic questionnaire distributed in Wenjuanxing,China. In total,615 valid responses were obtained. The participants completed the Templer death anxiety scale, death attitude profile-revised,Connor-Davidson resilience scale, and coping with death scale.A chain mediation analysis was performed using the PROCESS macro in SPSS to examine the relationships between these variables.RESULTS The findings indicated that DA had a significant direct effect on CDC[effect=0.201,95%confidence interval(CI):0.112-0.322].In addition to this direct effect, three significant indirect pathways were observed:(1)Death attitude(effect=0.118,95%CI:0.056-0.163);(2)Resilience(effect=0.108,95%CI:0.032-0.176);and(3)A sequential mediation pathway involving both death attitude and resilience(effect=0.071,95%CI:0.042-0.123).The total indirect effects of the three mediation paths accounted for 29.7%of the relationship between DA and CDC.CONCLUSION Using a chain mediation model, this study explored the mechanisms linking DA,death attitude, resilience, and CDC among Chinese oncology nurses. These findings highlighted the crucial role of death attitude and resilience in mediating the relationship between DA and CDC.Interventions aimed at fostering adaptive attitudes toward death and enhancing resilience may improve nurses’ability to cope with death-related stressors, ultimately benefiting their psychological well-being and professional competence.

摘要Objectives:To investigate the parenting stress, care burden, and coping styles in mothers of autistic children during the pandemic of COVID-19.The outbreak of COVID-19 and the closure of education and care centers for these children may affect stress, care burden, and adaptation of these mothers. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional research.A total of 110 mothers completed questionnaires.Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics(frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation),independent t-test,ANOVA,and multiple linear regressions. Results:Findings showed that parenting stress has a strong and direct correlation with caring burden(P<0.001,r=0.95),and a strong and indirect correlation with coping styles(P<0.001,r=−0.91).Variables of caring burden, coping strategies, mother’s age, mother’s job, mother’s education, number of autistic children, economic status, children’s age,and functional level of autism in children can predict 72.21%of the variance in parenting stress in these mothers. Conclusions:In the present study, parenting stress of mothers of autistic children was reported to be high during the COVID-19 pandemic.Based on the findings of this study,it can be concluded that pediatric nurses and health policymakers should provide a suitable educational and supportive environment for mothers of autistic children to enhance the coping level of these mothers and consequently reduce their parenting stress and care burden.

摘要Background:Chinese elementary students face mental health challenges due to excessive academic pressures.Previous research has indicated that resilience is crucial for improving their mental health, which is fostered by a supportive family environment. This study, therefore, explored the impact of family organization on children’s resilience and examined whether proactive coping and mindfulness mediate this relationship. Methods:Data were collected from 702 elementary school students(grades 3–6)in 3 cities in China using a multi-stage sampling procedure.Validated scales measured family organization, proactive coping, mindfulness, and resilience. The hypothesized model was tested using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM)in Mplus. Results:Resilience was strongly correlated with family organization(r=0.655,p<0.001),proactive coping(r=0.482,p<0.001),and mindfulness(r=0.639,p<0.001).Proactive coping and mindfulness mediated the relationship between family organization and resilience, with the direct effect accounting for 42.88%of the total effect.Indirect effects were distributed through two pathways:via mindfulness(41.41%)and via the“proactive coping→mindfulness”chain mediation(10.72%).Conclusions:This study reveals that effective family organization significantly enhances resilience among Chinese elementary students. Moreover, proactive coping and mindfulness serve as pivotal mediators in this relationship. These findings underscore the importance of understanding family organization and self-regulation,and their effects on the resilience of elementary pupils within the context of Chinese culture.

摘要Objectives:Suicidal ideation is a strong predictor of suicide deaths, which refers to the consideration or desire to give up one's own life.Left-behind children in rural China are more vulnerable to psychological problems and suicidal ideation compared to their non-left-behind peers. The aim of the current study was to examine two potential protective factors, negotiable fate belief and coping self-efficacy,and to test the mediating role of coping self-efficacy in the relationship between negotiable fate belief and suicidal ideation. We also analyzed gender differences in this mediation model.Methods:Across-sectional survey was conducted in rural areas ofChina.A sample of 526 left-behind children(285 males,54.18%;241 females,45.82%;Meanage=13.29 years,SD=0.97 years)was recruited to complete the Negotiable Fate Belief Scale,Coping Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation Inventory-Negative Scale. We used structural equation modeling to test the mediation model and multigroup analysis to test the moderation effect of gender. Results:Negotiable fate belief is negatively correlated with suicidal ideation(r=-0.13,p<0.01).Moreover,coping self-efficacy mediates the relationship between negotiable fate belief and suicidal ideation(β=-0.06,95%confidence interval(CI)[-0.12,-0.02]),accounting for 35.29%of the total effect. Finally, the mediating effect of coping self-efficacy was found to be significant only for female left-behind children(male:95%CI[-0.09,0.07];female:95%CI[-0.16,-0.01]).For female left-behind children, the mediating effect was complete, with a coefficient of-0.06,accounting for 85.71%of the total effect. Conclusions:The relationship between negotiable fate belief and suicidal ideation among rural left-behind children is mediated by coping self-efficacy,and this mediation effect was moderated by gender. This study provides a theoretical explanation for how cultivating the belief in negotiable fate and coping self-efficacy is effective for reducing suicidal ideation of rural left-behind children.
摘要BACKGROUND Resilience is an individual’s ability and psychological rebound capacity to adapt well after experiencing adversity, trauma, etc.Patients with strong resilience can face illnesses actively.AIM To determine the association of resilience with coping styles and quality of life in patients with malignancies.METHODS This study included patients with malignant tumors who were hospitalized at Fuyang Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University from March 2022 to March 2024.The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale,Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire,Social Support Rating Scale, and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 were utilized to assess patients’resilience, coping styles, social support, and quality of life, respectively.Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to assess the correlations.RESULTS A total of 175 patients with malignant tumors demonstrated no marked difference in terms of age, education level, employment status, monthly household income, and disease staging(P<0.05).Further,patients with malignancies demonstrated scores of 17.49±1.20,17.27±1.46,and 11.19±1.29 points in terms of coping styles in confrontation, avoidance, and resignation dimensions, respectively.Subjective support, objective support, and support utilization scores in terms of social support were 10.67±1.80,11.26±2.08,and 9.24±1.14 points, respectively. The total resilience score and tenacity,self-improvement,and optimism dimension scores were positively correlatedwith the confrontation coping style score, whereas the total resilience score and tenacity and self-improvementscores were negatively associated with avoidance and resignation coping style scores(P<0.05).The total resiliencescore and the tenacity dimension score were positively associated with physical, role, cognitive, emotional, andsocial functions,as well as global health status(P<0.05),and were inversely related to fatigue, insomnia, andeconomic difficulties(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONThe resilience of patients with malignancies is positively associated with the confrontation dimension in the copingstyle, the total and various social support domain scores, and the overall quality of life.Clinical medical staff needto pay attention to the effect of medical coping styles and social support on the resilience level of patients withmalignancies to further improve their quality of life.
