Wrinkling analysis of a rectangular membrane with a single crease under shearing is performed to understand the wrinkle-crease interaction behaviors.The crease is considered by introducing the residual stresses from c...Wrinkling analysis of a rectangular membrane with a single crease under shearing is performed to understand the wrinkle-crease interaction behaviors.The crease is considered by introducing the residual stresses from creasing and the effective modulus into the baseline configuration with assumed circular cross-sectional crease geometry.The wrinkling analysis of the creased membrane is then performed by using the direct perturb-force(DP)simulation technique which is based on our modified displacement components(MDC)method.Results reveal that the crease may influence the stress transfer path in the membrane and further change the wrinkling direction.The crease appears to improve the bending stiffness of the membrane which has an effective resistance on the wrinkling evolution.The effects of the crease orientation on wrinkle-crease interaction are studied toward the end of this paper.The results show that the wrinkling amplitude,wavelength,and direction increase as the crease orientation increases,and the wrinkling number decreases with the increasing crease orientation.These results will be of great benefit to the analysis and the control of the wrinkles in the membrane structures.展开更多

The results show that ED GE reacts with silk fibroin and forms cross linkages through ether bond. The formation of cross linking was examined by FITR spectroscopy, soluble time in acid solution and changes of amino acids. Handle of treated silk with catalyst WSH is better than that of silk treated with the traditional catalysts such as thiosulfates and thiocyanates. Finishing technique, physical properties of the finished silk fabrics and evaluation of cross linkages are discussed.展开更多

The accelerated evolution of space technology has elevated the importance of high power and lightweight attributes in satellite design.In response to the conflict between the demand for large-scale,high-power payloads...The accelerated evolution of space technology has elevated the importance of high power and lightweight attributes in satellite design.In response to the conflict between the demand for large-scale,high-power payloads and the need for lightweight,compact platforms,flexible space origami membrane structures have emerged as a potential solution.These structures possess the ability to overcome the limitations of traditional deployable mechanisms.Their geometric reconfiguration capabilities,characterized by high folding ratios,effectively satisfy the high-power performance demands.Thus,this paper begins with an overview of the design and application of space origami membranes before investigating the design of creases,deployable mechanisms,and the close connection between the two,focusing on the origami principle.This section introduces various crease types with different motion dimensions,folding characteristics,advantages,disadvantages,and optimization methods.Then,the deployable mechanisms'structures,principles,and performance characteristics in three unfolding spatial dimensions are presented comprehensively.Based on the preceding sections,this paper reviews the application of the origami principle to spacecraft solar arrays,antennas,solar sails,drag sails,and light shade structures,considering the current status,application purpose,and effect.Finally,the development trend of space origami membrane structures is analyzed.展开更多

Origami mechanisms are extensively employed in various engineering applications due to their exceptional folding performance and deformability.The key to designing origami mechanisms lies in the design of the creases....Origami mechanisms are extensively employed in various engineering applications due to their exceptional folding performance and deformability.The key to designing origami mechanisms lies in the design of the creases.The crease design is often derived from experience and inspiration,so it is crucial to have a systematic approach to crease design.In this paper,a novel synthesis approach based on graph theory is proposed,which effectively addresses the challenge of designing the creases in origami mechanisms.The essence of this method lies in the acquisition of the double symmetrical crease pattern through the directed graph product operation of two subgraphs.The crease pattern can be simplified by employing a technique that eliminates certain creases while preserving the non-isomorphism and symmetry of the pattern.An improved mixed-integer linear programming model is developed to achieve an automatic distribution of the peak_valley creases of the origami.The proposed method ultimately generates 12 unique double symmetrical crease patterns.The new method proposed in this paper,through systematic design,significantly improves the efficiency of mechanism design while opening up broad prospects for exploring new mechanism structures,thereby greatly expanding its application potential in cutting-edge fields such as aerospace engineering and intelligent robots.展开更多
