Objective To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of topical preparations of Mongolian medicine Manggari hot compress therapy(hereafter referred to as Manggari hot compress therapy)in treating cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(CSR)and explore the possible pharmacological material basis in the formula,providing evidence for the clinical application of Mongolian medicine in the treatment of CSR.Methods The clinical trial employed a randomized,controlled,open-label,and outcome-assessor-blinded design.The CSR patients who were treated at the Department of Traditional Therapeutics Outpatient Clinic,Xilinguole Meng Mongolian General Hospital between July 1,2024 and August 31,2025,were enrolled.They were randomly assigned to three groups:an oral control group(administration of oral administration of mecobalamin tablets combined with cervical electric traction),an experimental group(Manggari external hot compress),and a patch control group(flurbiprofen gel plaster).The intervention lasted two weeks.Before and after treatment,the following subjective indicators were recorded:Mongolian Medicine Syndrome(MMS)score,Visual Analog Scale(VAS)score,Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire(NPQ)score,and tongue morphology.Serum levels of inflammatory markers[tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-6,and IL-1β)]and oxidative stress markers[malondialdehyde(MDA)content,superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity,and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity]were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Overall therapeutic efficacy was evaluated.One month after treatment completion,a follow-up assessment was conducted,and the MMS,VAS,and NPQ scores were recorded again for all patients.For the pharmacological substance exploration,ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-Q-exactive orbitrap-mass(UHPLC-QE-MS)was employed to analyze blood-absorbed prototype components of Manggari,under both positive and negative ion modes.The targeting relationship between the core active compounds and the target protein was validated using molecular docking.Results This study ultimately included 90 patients with CSR for analysis.Baseline characteristics showed no statistically significant differences among the three groups(P>0.05).(i)Symptom scores.After treatment,the MMS,VAS,and NPQ scores decreased significantly from baseline in all three groups(P0.05).After treatment,the experimental group showed significantly greater reductions in MMS,VAS,and NPQ scores than oral control and patch control groups(P<0.001).At follow-up,these differences remained significant(P<0.001).(ii)Inflammatory and oxidative stress markers.After treatment,serum levels of TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1β,and MDA activity decreased significantly from baseline in all three groups(P<0.001),and SOD content and GSH-Px activity increased significantly from baseline(P<0.05).After treatment,the experimental group had significantly lower serum levels of TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1βthan oral and patch control groups.Additionally,it exhibited lower MDA activity and higher SOD content and GSH-Px activity compared with the two control groups.(P<0.05).(iii)Overall efficacy.The total effective rate was 93.33%in the experimental group,86.66%in the oral control group,and 83.33%in the patch control group.(iv)Pharmacological substance analysis.A total of 152 compounds were identified in the blood-absorbed components of Manggari.Among them,the core compounds—4-hydroxycoumarin,N-methylanthranilic acid,genistein,and ginsenoside-Rk1—showed binding energies to the key target proteins TNF-αand IL-1βrange from−4.7 to−7.1 kcal/mol,with the majority of the binding energies being below−5.0 kcal/mol,suggesting that it generally has a good binding affinity.Conclusion Mongolian medicine hot compress therapy effectively modulates inflammatory and oxidative stress responses through the combined action of its thermal effects and active pharmaceutical ingredients Manggari.It inhibits cervical nerve root inflammation and alleviates radicular pain,improving clinical symptoms,reducing pain severity,and alleviating neck functional disability. 展开更多

Recent studies have suggested that rapid warming over the Mongolian Plateau(MP)may intensify extreme heat events(EHEs).However,the characteristics and mechanisms driving summer EHEs over the MP(MP-EHEs)remain unclear.This study explores the interannual variations in summer MP-EHEs and their relationship with the summer soil moisture over the Inner Tibetan Plateau(TP-SM).The results reveal that changes in the MP-EHEs are linked to descending atmospheric motion induced by a local high-pressure system over the MP region.Descending motion further results in decreased mid-tolow-level cloud cover and increased shortwave radiation,thereby warming the surface and triggering summer MP-EHEs.Further analysis indicates that increased TP-SM results in a greater latent heat flux,triggering a local secondary circulation that reinforces the local high-pressure system over the MP region,thus serving to promote the occurrence of summer MPEHEs.Additionally,model results from the linear baroclinic model(LBM)and CMIP6 further confirm that variations in summer TP-SM contribute to the occurrence of the MP-EHEs. 展开更多

Prolonged droughts have emerged as a major impediment to the revitalization of pastoral regions worldwide because they significantly augment their susceptibility to the deleterious effects of global climate change,overgrazing,and land degradation.This study,conducted in 106 pastoral villages across 33 pastoral banners of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China between August 2021 and October 2022,used a community resilience evaluation indicator system to assess drought resistance.By calculating a community resilience index,the research explored influencing factors and proposed countermeasures,aiming to enhance resilience to prolonged drought.The results revealed three key findings.1)Pastoral areas exhibited a limited degree of community resilience to drought disasters(overall score=0.28),with resilience levels forming a pyramid-shaped hierarchy.2)Dimensional analysis showed that resilience scores decreased sequentially across five domains:social(0.53)>cultural(0.44)>environmental(0.38)>economic(0.32)>management(0.27).These results highlight the crucial role of economic and management resilience in enhancing community resilience,particularly when accompanied by pre-and post-disaster government support and social security,both of which must be improved.3)Key factors influencing community resilience included geographical location,traffic accessibility,and frequency and severity of droughts.From a drought resilience perspective,targeted strategies and recommendations are proposed to provide novel and practical approaches for achieving sustainable development in pastoral areas and rural regions as a whole. 展开更多

Serbisütherapy(ST)is a distinctive external treatment modality within traditional Mongolian medicine(TMM),historically developed within a nomadic cultural framework.This study presents a comprehensive philological and historical analysis of ST,tracing its evolution from early battlefield applications to contemporary clinical use.By critically examining classical Mongolian medical texts alongside modern case studies,we aim to systematize ST’s therapeutic methods,indications,and limitations,while exploring its mechanisms of action through both traditional theory and modern biomedical perspectives.ST has undergone significant transformation,shifting from whole-body cavity immersion in the 13th century to targeted,organ-specific applications in modern practice.Its four primary methods–Covering,Mounted,Organ Placement,and Suction–demonstrate efficacy in treating cold-natured diseases,musculoskeletal disorders,gynecological conditions,and certain emergencies.ST embodies the core principles of TMM,particularly the balance of the“Three Roots”and the correction of cold-induced pathologies through heat.Despite challenges related to standardization,cultural translation,and regulatory acceptance,ST holds translational potential for integrative medicine.Future research should prioritize mechanistic validation,clinical standardization,and the development of biocompatible thermal technologies to bridge traditional practice with modern healthcare systems. 展开更多

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of combined application of Mongolian medical warm needle therapy and Qujie Ning decoction in the treatment of chronic ulcerative colitis, and to preliminarily investigate its biological mechanisms. Methods: From January 2024 to January 2026,80 eligible patients were enrolled in the study. According to randomized grouping principles, the patients were divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group received warm needle therapy at specific acupoints along with Qujie Ning herbal decoction, while the control group was administered standard Western medication mesalazine orally. The entire treatment course lasted 8 weeks. Results: After 8 weeks of treatment, all observed indicators improved in both groups. However, the treatment group demonstrated significantly greater improvements than the control group in terms of reduced endoscopic scores, optimized pathological scores, and decreased clinical symptom scores, as well as higher overall treatment efficacy. Additionally, the treatment group exhibited stronger efficacy in reducing serum IL-6 and TNF-α concentrations, with statistically significant differences compared to the control group. Conclusion: The combined use of Mongolian medical warm needle therapy and Qujie Ning effectively alleviates symptoms in patients with chronic ulcerative colitis and promotes intestinal mucosal repair, showing superior clinical outcomes compared to mesalazine monotherapy. This synergistic effect may be attributed to the method's ability to more profoundly modulate the body's inflammatory response, providing a valuable therapeutic option for clinical practice. 展开更多

The characteristics of summertime raindrop size distribution(DSD) and associated relations in the semi-arid region over the Inner Mongolian Plateau(IMP) were investigated,utilizing five-year continuous observations by a PARSIVEL2disdrometer in East Ujimqin County(EUC),China.It is found that only 7.94% of the 15 664 one-min precipitation samples meet classification criteria as convective rain(CR),but its contribution to the total rainfall amount is 63.87%.Notably,40.72% of the rainfall comes from large-sized raindrops(D> 3 mm),despite the fact that large-sized raindrops account for only 1.73% of the CR total number concentration.Further results show that the mean value of mass-weighted mean diameters(Dm) is larger(2.43 mm) and generalized intercepts(lgNW) is lower(3.19) in CR,aligning with a "continentallike" cluster,which is mainly influenced by the joint impact of in-cloud ice-based processes and the below-cloud environmental background.Also,the empirical relationships of shape-slope(μ-Λ),radar reflectivity-rain rate(Z-R),and rainfall kinetic energy(KEtime-Rand KEtime-Z) are localized.To quantitatively analyze the impact of DSD parameters on kinetic energy estimation,power-law KEtime-R and KEtime-Z relationships are derived based on the normalized gamma distribution.NWtakes precedence over μ in affecting variabilities of multiplicative coefficients,especially for KEtime-R relationship where the multiplicative coefficient is proportional to NW-0.287.It should be noted that although the proportion of CR occurring throughout the summer is small,raindrops with lower NW and larger Dmwill generate higher KEtime,which will bring a higher potential risk of soil erosion in semi-arid regions over IMP. 展开更多

The grassland ecosystem of the Mongolian Plateau is a significant carbon sink and highly sensitive to environmental changes.Monitoring gross primary productivity(GPP),net primary productivity(NPP),and carbon use efficiency(CUE),along with their responses to climate changes,is essential for accurate carbon budgeting and forecasting.Our study,conducted from 2000 to 2018,we observed fluctuating yet upward trends in NPP,GPP and CUE across the grasslands,indicating an increased potential for carbon sequestration,while the spatial distribution of NPP and GPP showed a notable increasing trend from the west to the east.By employing an interpretable machine learning approach,we correlated GPP,NPP and CUE with key climatic variables—air temperature,precipitation,soil moisture(SM),and solar radiation(SR)—and quantified their individual impacts.Our findings reveal that GPP,NPP,and CUE in grasslands are positively influenced by precipitation and SM,but negatively by air temperature and SR.Precipitation contributes 50.14%to GPP and 49.63%to NPP,while SM contributes 19.3%to GPP and 18.18%to NPP.In the case of CUE,SM is the predominant factor,affecting 28.3%of the area,followed by air temperature,which affects 27.94%of the area.In contrast,precipitation and SM have a comparatively lesser impact on CUE,affecting 24.88%and 18.84%of the area,respectively.The findings of this research are extremely important for gaining a thorough understanding of the carbon cycle response mechanism of grassland vegetation in dry and semi-arid regions in the context of climate change. 展开更多

The naturally fermented Inner Mongolian cheese’s flavor and nutritional value make it a popular choice among customers.In this work,to create multi-functional peptides that have taste and biological activity,peptidomics and bioinformatics were used to screen flavor peptides from Inner Mongolian cheese and further assess their antioxidant and angiotensin I-converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitory properties.According to sensory data,YH8 and IL7 had detectable bitter tastes with low thresholds of 0.03 and 0.06 mmol/L,respectively.With an umami threshold range of 0.24‒0.81 mmol/L,VQ6,FK13,HP13 and QT14 exhibited a range of flavors dominated by umami,including sweet,bitter,salty,sour and kokumi.Antioxidant activity wise,YH8,VQ6,HP13 and QT14 were well represented.The above-mentioned peptides all had some ACE inhibitory effect.The bitter peptide IL7(IC50=0.08 mmol/L)had the highest level of ACE inhibitory activity,followed by YH8(IC50=0.33 mmol/L).These multi-functional peptides,which have been assessed for bioactive and taste features in Inner Mongolian cheese,may have positive impacts on health and harmonize the cheese’s overall flavor.These results suggest that some flavor peptides produced in fermented foods might be with bioactivities while providing a basis for the exploration and application of multi-functional peptides. 展开更多

Since the mid-20th century,the Mongolian Plateau(MP)has experienced decadal droughts coupled with extreme heatwaves,severely affecting regional ecology and social development.However,the mechanisms behind these decadalscale compound heatwavedrought events remain debated.Here,using reconstructions and simulations from the Community Earth System Model Last Millennium Ensemble,we demonstrate that,over the last millennium,decadal droughts on the MP occurred under both warm and cold conditions,differing from recent compound heatwavedrought events.We found that by examining temperature changes during these drought periods,the distinct influences of external forcings and internal variability can be simply and effectively distinguished.Specifically,colddry events were primarily driven by volcanic eruptions that weakened the East Asian summer monsoon and midlatitude westerlies,reducing moisture transport to the MP.In contrast,warmdry events were predominantly induced by internal variability,notably the negative phase of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation and the expansion of the Barents Sea ice extent.The recent extreme compound event was probably influenced by the combined effects of anthropogenic forcings and internal variability.These findings deepen our understanding of how external forcings and internal variability affect decadal drought events on the MP and highlight that recent compound events are unprecedented in the context of the last millennium. 展开更多

[Objectives]To explore the mechanism of Mongolian medicine Valeriana officinalis L.on liver cancer by network pharmacology.[Methods]The HERB database of V.officinalis L.was searched,and the Uniprot database was used to normalize and standardize the targets.Liver cancer targets were searched through GeneCards,DISGENET,and other databases.Venny website was used to obtain the intersection target of valerian active ingredients and liver cancer disease.The protein-protein interaction(PPI)network of the intersection targets was analyzed by STRING database,and the PPI network was constructed by Cytoscape software.The David database was used for GO functional annotation and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis to obtain the relevant pathways in the treatment of liver cancer with Mongolian medicine V.officinalis.The corresponding chemical components,targets and pathways of liver cancer were imported into Cytoscape software to construct the network topology of"chemical component-disease-target-pathway".According to the analysis results,the potential of the active components in V.officinalis as a therapeutic drug for liver cancer was evaluated,and the correlation between the results of network pharmacology analysis and clinical treatment of liver cancer was discussed,which provided a reference for clinical application.[Results]A total of 13 kinds of chemical components and 108 drug disease intersection target genes were screened,and the core genes acting on diseases were caffeic acid,perillyl acetate,(+)-alpha-Terpineol,eucalyptol,etc.;GO functional enrichment analysis involved 389 items of biological processes,62 items of cellular components and 120 items of molecular functions.Enrichment analysis of KEGG signaling pathways screened out chemical carcinogenesis-receptor activation,cancer pathways,prolactin signaling pathways,proteoglycans in cancer,EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance and other signaling pathways.[Conclusions]The mechanism of Mongolian medicine V.officinalis on liver cancer was studied by network pharmacology.It was found that it can inhibit the proliferation of liver cancer cells from multiple targets and pathways.This is expected to provide a theoretical basis for further basic experimental research. 展开更多

[Objectives]To observe the clinical efficacy of Mongolian medicine silver needle combined with cupping and bloodletting therapy in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(CSR).[Methods]A total of 120 patients diagnosed with CSR who received treatment at the International Mongolian Hospital of Inner Mongolia between October 2021 and October 2022 were selected and randomly divided into two groups:A test group and a control group,with 60 patients in each group.The patients in the test group received Mongolian medicine silver needle combined with cupping and bloodletting therapy,following the principles of syndrome differentiation in Mongolian medicine.In contrast,the patients in the control group received only the Mongolian medicine silver needle therapy.After treatment,the Mongolian medicine syndrome scores,visual analogue scale(VAS)scores,and total clinical therapeutic effects in the two groups of patients were compared both prior to and following the treatment.[Results]The improvement in VAS and Mongolian medicine syndrome scores in the test group was greater than that in the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The scores of the test group surpassed those of the control group,and this difference was also statistically significant(P<0.05).Furthermore,the overall therapeutic effect in the test group was 93.33%,which was markedly higher than 76.67%observed in the control group(P<0.05).[Conclusions]The therapeutic effect of Mongolian medicine silver needle combined with cupping and bloodletting therapy in the treatment of CSR is remarkable.This approach has demonstrated efficacy in alleviating patient pain and improving the functionality of the cervical vertebrae,thereby warranting clinical promotion and application. 展开更多

[Objectives]To systematically review the advances in the research of the theoretical basis,clinical efficacy,and mechanisms of Mongolian medical acupuncture for Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy(CSR),and to explore its relationship with the"Khii-Khisu(Wind-blood)"theory.[Methods]Relevant literature from both domestic and international sources was searched.Besides,it summarized the etiology,pathogenesis,clinical manifestations,and treatment principles of CSR in Mongolian medicine,also summarized the commonly used acupoints and combination protocols in Mongolian medical acupuncture,compared the similarities and differences between various acupuncture regimens,and explained the underlying mechanisms in light of the"Wind-blood"theory.[Results]In Mongolian medicine,Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy(CSR)is classified as a"Disorder of the White Meridian".Its pathogenesis is considered to be closely associated with the disorder of the Three Life-sustaining Energies(Khii,Shar,Badgan).Clinical studies have demonstrated that Mongolian medical acupuncture can significantly alleviate pain and numbness,and improve cervical spine function in CSR patients.Although there are variations in acupoint selection,the approach consistently emphasizes the combination of local and distal points,highlighting the therapeutic goals of dredging the White Meridian and regulating qi and blood.The"Wind-blood"theory provides a scientific framework for explaining the neurological and inflammatory symptoms of CSR,thereby offering a basis for pattern differentiation and treatment.[Conclusions]Mongolian medical acupuncture for CSR offers the advantages of a solid theoretical basis and established clinical efficacy.However,its advancement in the modern context requires a deeper investigation into its mechanisms,the standardization of operational protocols,and further validation of its efficacy and safety through large-sample,evidence-based studies. 展开更多
