BACKGROUND Chronic respiratory diseases(CRDs),such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma, impose significant physical and psychological burdens on patients.Effective management requires medical treatment and psychological support to improve treatment compliance and overall well-being.AIM To improve the psychological care and compliance management of patients with CRDs.METHODS Pre-and post-intervention assessments were conducted with 128 patients diagnosed with CRDs.The patients were divided into two groups. The experimental group(EG)received innovative nursing interventions based on psychological techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, counseling, relaxation, and mindfulness-based exercises. The control group(CG)received traditional nursing care.Interventions were delivered through hospital visits, home care, and telemedicine over a two-or three-week period.Pre-and post-intervention assessment data were used to determine which method better supported the patients in managing their condition and enhanced their overall quality of life(QoL).Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests,analyses of variance and covariance, effect size calculations,andχ2 tests were performed using SPSS v23.RESULTS Compared with the CG,the EG demonstrated significantly higher psychological well-being scores(13.4±5.2 vs 2.6±4.5,P<0.001).A larger proportion of patients in the EG reported notable improvements in QoL(85%vs 45%,P<0.001).Moreover,the EG showed significantly greater reductions than the CG in the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and Hamilton Depression Scale scores(both P<0.01),along with substantially larger improvements across all dimensions of the 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey.CONCLUSION Integrating psychological intervention techniques with innovative nursing strategies led to a statistically significant improvement in psychological well-being and QoL(Cohen’s d=1.22)compared with standard nursing care. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Patients with gastric cancer(GC)often experience complex pain, including a neuropathic component, which may influence their response to perioperative interventions.AIM To identify neuropathic pain(NP)components in patients with GC and evaluate the clinical efficacy of perioperative psychological interventions.METHODS The study comprised 100 patients with GC who underwent surgical treatment at Jiujiang No.1 People’s Hospital between April 2022 and April 2025.Using randomized number tables, the participants were allocated into either an observation(n=50)or control(n=50)group.The control group received conventional perioperative pain management, while the observation group received additional perioperative psychological interventions.Between-group differences were compared in terms of pain intensity, pain characteristics, anxiety and depression levels, postoperative analgesic consumption, early postoperative recovery, and recovery quality.RESULTS On postoperative day 7,both groups exhibited higher Numeric Rating Scale scores for resting and activity pain than that demonstrated on preoperative day 1(P<0.05),while Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)-Anxiety and HADS-Depression scores were also lower(P<0.05).Regarding the primary outcomes, patients in the observation group exhibited lower Numeric Rating Scale scores for resting and activity-related pain and a lower NP-positivity rate than those in the control group (P < 0.05). For the secondary outcomes, patients in the observation group had fewereffective presses for intravenous patient-controlled analgesia, lower morphine equivalents, earlier time to firstambulation, earlier time to first flatus, shorter hospital stays, and higher Quality of Recovery-15 scores comparedwith the control group (P < 0.05). Moreover, their HADS-Anxiety and HADS-Depression scores were also lowerthan those in the control group (P < 0.05). Stratified regression analysis revealed significant main effects of groupassignment and NP status (P < 0.05), with a significant interaction term between group assignment and NP status(P < 0.05).CONCLUSIONEffective identification of the NP component in the patients’ pain, coupled with perioperative psychologicalinterventions, significantly reduced pain intensity and NP-positivity rates. This approach improved anxiety anddepressive symptoms, decreased postoperative analgesic use, accelerated early recovery, and enhanced quality ofrecovery. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic surgery is the standard minimally invasive treatment for pediatric appendicitis. However, children with appendicitis may experience varying degrees of anxiety and depression due to the illness itself and the surgical procedure, which is not conducive to a smooth postoperative recovery.AIM To assess whether adding psychological intervention to standard operating room nursing improves psychological well-being and postoperative recovery in pediatric patients undergoing laparoscopic appendectomy.METHODS A total of 98 patients were recruited at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University between November 2023 and November 2024.Standard care was administered to 44 patients in the control group, whereas 54 patients in the research group received operating room nursing combined with psychological intervention.Outcomes compared between groups included surgical metrics(operation time and intraoperative blood loss),physiological indices(systolic blood pressure/diastolic blood pressure/diastolic blood pressure and heart rate),psychological status(Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders and Depression Self-Rating Scale for Children),postoperative recovery indicators(time to flatus, wound healing, and hospitalization stay),complications(hypothermia, pressure sores, and infection),and nursing satisfaction.RESULTS Compared with the control group, patients in the research group had reduced intraoperative blood loss, shorter operation and recovery times(earlier return of bowel function, faster wound healing, and shorter hospitalization stay),and a lower overall complication rate.Post-intervention systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, heart rate,Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders, and Depression Self-Rating Scale for Children scores were significantly reduced compared with baseline and were lower those in the research group.Nursing satisfaction scores were also higher in the research group.CONCLUSION Integrating psychological support with operating room nursing is superior to conventional care in alleviating anxiety and depression and enhancing postoperative recovery in pediatric laparoscopic appendectomy. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive malignancies, and surgery remains the only potentially curative treatment. However, postoperative complications, psychological distress, and treatment-related symptoms can severely impair quality of life(QoL)of patients.Although psychological interventions and health education have shown beneficial effects in other cancer populations, their effectiveness in postoperative patients with pancreatic cancer remains inconsistent and inadequately synthesized. We hypothesized that structured psychological and educational support would improve global health status, functional outcomes, and the symptom burden of postoperative patients with pancreatic cancer compared to standard care.AIM To determine how psychological intervention and health education affects the QoL of postoperative patients with pancreatic cancer.METHODS We searched PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,CINAHL,and MEDLINE from inception to October 2025.Two investigators independently screened studies, extracted data, and assessed bias.Quality was appraised using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool(RoB 2.0),and the primary effect measure was the standardized mean difference(SMD)derived from a meta-analysis using RevMan 5.4.RESULTS Of the 1613 records initially identified, six studies involving 712 patients were included in the final analysis after applying exclusion criteria. The meta-analysis revealed that, compared with usual care, psychological interventions and health education significantly improved patients’global health status[MD=7.12,95%confidence interval(CI):4.91 to 9.32,P<0.001],physical functioning(SMD=0.61,95%CI:0.37 to 0.85,P<0.001),role functioning(SMD=0.64,95%CI:0.33 to 0.94,P<0.001),emotional functioning(SMD=1.03,95%CI:0.78 to 1.28,P<0.001),dietary digestion(MD=-2.37,95%CI:-3.12 to-1.63,P<0.001),and nursing satisfaction(MD=0.69,95%CI:0.50 to 0.88,P<0.001).CONCLUSION Psychological interventions combined with health education can improve global health status, alleviate symptom burden, and enhance functional outcomes compared to standard care among postoperative patients with pancreatic cancer. 展开更多

Objective:This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of psychological and behavioral interventions in improving emotional disturbances in patients with liver cirrhosis and their impact on quality of life.Method:A total of 120 eligible patients with liver cirrhosis were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups, with 60 patients in each group. The experimental group received a comprehensive treatment regimen combining cognitive behavioral therapy and emotion management training, while the control group continued their original nursing care plan. Changes in mental health status before and after intervention were compared between the two groups, and changes in nursing satisfaction were assessed using a five-point Likert scale. Results:The psychological distress score in the experimental group significantly decreased from an initial value of (6.5 ± 0.67) to (2.13 ± 0.22), whereas in the control group, the score only declined from (6.4 ± 0.59) to (3.20 ± 0.32). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P = 0.001). Additionally, the experimental group demonstrated superior performance in alleviating anxiety and depressive symptoms compared to the control group (P = 0.001). Regarding nursing satisfaction, the experimental group achieved a high satisfaction rate of 96.67%, significantly higher than the control group's 70.00%, with this difference also being statistically significant (P = 0.001).Conclusion:A systematic psychological intervention strategy can effectively mitigate negative emotions, reduce psychological stress and depressive/anxiety symptoms, and enhance patients' satisfaction with medical services in individuals with liver cirrhosis, thereby providing robust support for improving their quality of life. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Cervical cancer,a prevalent gynecological malignancy, exhibits recurrence rates of 30%-50%post-treatment,with recurrent cases facing a dire 10%-20%long-term survival rate, severely impacting patients’mental health and quality of life.Fear of cancer recurrence(FCR)emerges as a critical psychological challenge, often leading to anxiety, social avoidance, and even suicidal tendencies.Despite its high prevalence,structured,evidence-based interventions for FCR in cervical cancer remain scarce, with most studies focusing on general psychological support rather than targeted strategies. The fear of progression theory provides a theoretical framework, highlighting cognitive-emotional conflicts arising from perceived threats of disease recurrence.Addressing this gap, this study developed a specialized, phased psychological intervention program grounded in fear of progression theory, aiming to reduce FCR and enhance resilience in cervical cancer survivors through multi-disciplinary strategies.AIM To establish a psychological intervention program to support the fear of cervical cancer recurrence and to alleviate the psychological pressure of patients after cervical cancer surgery.METHODS Thirteen experts were selected to conduct two rounds of correspondence through literature review and group discussions to amend the psychological intervention draft and form the basis for the psychological intervention. The selected experts also performed two rounds of correspondence to revise the psychological intervention draft and outline the first draft, and pre-experiments were conducted for further improvement of the psychological intervention program.Experiments were performed in 80 patients with cervical cancer to further improve the psychological intervention program of relapse fear support.RESULTS The expert authority coefficient of the first and second rounds was higher than 0.8,indicating high authority. The coordination coefficient>0.8 indicated high consistency with high significance(all P<0.05).The FCR Inventory,Kessler Psychological Distress Scale,Psychological Distress Thermometer, and General Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale scores at 3 and 6 months in the study group were lower than those of the control group, and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 and Perceived Social Support Scale scores were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The psychological intervention program of relapse fear support which considers the individual differences between patients and expert opinions, has a good scientific and practical basis, and can be used to enhance the quality of life of patients. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Esophageal cancer is a malignancy that originates in the epithelium of the esophageal mucosa and has a high mortality rate.Although radiotherapy is the primary treatment modality,it can easily lead to nutritional deterioration and psychological distress, affecting treatment efficacy and quality of life.Currently, there are relatively few postoperative rehabilitation interventions for esophageal cancer. As such,it is particularly important to develop a systematic and comprehensive intervention model to improve the quality of life and nutritional status of patients.AIM To evaluate exercise, nutritional, and psychological interventions on the postoperative nutritional and mental status of patients with esophageal cancer.METHODS Data from 104 patients, who were diagnosed with postoperative esophageal cancer between August 2023 and February 2024,were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into 2 groups using a random numbers table:control[routine nursing measures(n=53)];and observation[routine nursing+exercise, nutritional support, and psychological interventions(n=51)].Nutritional status, anxiety and depression, quality of life, incidence of complications, treatment compliance, and satisfaction with nursing care were compared between the two groups.RESULTS Serum albumin, prealbumin, hemoglobin, transferrin, and World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief Version scores were higher in the observation group than those in the control group. After treatment,Self-rating Anxiety Scale,Self-rating Depression Scale, and Hamilton Anxiety and Depression Scale scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group. No significant differences were observed in the incidence of complications between the observation and control groups. The observation group exhibited more satisfaction with nursing care and treatment compliance than the control group.CONCLUSION Exercise, nutritional support, and psychological interventions effectively improves the nutritional status and negative emotions of patients undergoing radiotherapy for esophageal cancer, and enhances treatment compliance and satisfaction with nursing. 展开更多

Objective: To assess the impact of preoperative psychological interventions on the care of patients undergoing elective surgery. Methods: Ninety-two patients scheduled for elective surgery in the surgical department between August 2021 and August 2023 were selected and divided into groups using a random number table. The observation group received preoperative psychological interventions, while the reference group received standard preoperative care. Anxiety and depression scores, fear grading, vital signs, and self-efficacy levels were compared. Results: After the intervention, the anxiety and depression scores in the observation group were lower than those in the reference group, and the proportion of fear graded as Level I was higher. During the waiting period and 15 minutes before entering the operating room, vital sign levels in the observation group were lower than those in the reference group. Additionally, the self-efficacy scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the reference group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Preoperative psychological interventions can alleviate negative emotions, stabilize preoperative vital signs, and significantly improve self-efficacy in patients undergoing elective surgery, demonstrating high feasibility for implementation. 展开更多

AIM: To assess whether psychological intervention reduces postembolization pain during hepatic arterial chemoembolization therapy. METHODS: Two hundred and sixty-two patients, who required hepatic arterial chemoembolization for hepatic malignancy and postembolization pain, were randomized into control group (n = 46, receiving medication) and intervention group (n = 216, receiving psychological intervention and medication in turn). The symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) was used to scale the psychological symptoms of the patients before operation. Pain was scored with a 0 to 10 numeric rating scale (NRS-10) before and after analgesia as well as after psychological intervention (only in intervention group). RESULTS: All psychological symptomatic scores measured with SCL-90 in the intervention group were higher than the normal range in Chinese (P < 0.05). The somatization, phobia and anxiety symptomatic scores were associated with pain numerical rating score before analgesia (r = 0.141, 0.157 and 0.192, respectively, P < 0.05). Patients in both groups experienced pain relief after medication, psychotherapy or psychotherapy combined with medication during the procedure (P < 0.01). Only some patients in the intervention group reported partial or entire pain relief (29.17% and 2.31%) after psychological intervention. The pain score after analgesia in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Severe psychological distress occurs in patients with hepatic malignancy. Psychological intervention reduces pain scores significantly during hepatic arterial chemoembolization therapy and is thus, highly recommended as a complementary approach to drug analgesia. 展开更多
