People-oriented new-type urbanization emphasizes the synergistic improvement of level and quality. This study, based on a quantity-quality synergy perspective, constructs a unified theoretical framework integrating these two dimensions.Focusing on the Yangtze River Economic Belt(YREB)from 2000 to 2022,this study comprehensively examines its new-type urbanization using methods including the entropy method, kernel density estimation, and a synergy evolution model, with driving mechanisms revealed by a Geodetector. The results indicate that:(1)Both the urbanization level and quality in the YREB have continuously increased, with the level rising from 32.54 to 61.64 and the quality from 43.47 to 67.93.However,the urbanization level remains below the national average and exhibits significant regional disparities.(2)The spatial pattern reveals a hierarchical gradient characterized by“downstream leading, midstream in the middle, and upstream lowest”.While central cities demonstrate radiating effects, siphoning effects persist in major southwestern cities, and the northern downstream area lags behind.(3)The synergistic evolution of urbanization level and quality significantly improved, transitioning from a polarized state of“quality lag”and“level imbalance”towards coordinated development.(4)The urbanization development patterns have shifted from extensive to optimal and imbalanced types. The downstream region is dominated by the optimal type, while the midstream and upstream areas primarily exhibit the imbalanced pattern, highlighting a significant potential for level improvement.(5)New-type urbanization in the YREB is driven by the synergistic effects of natural endowment, government regulation, and market adjustment, forming a tripartite system where“Innovation+”plays a particularly crucial role. This research provides a scientific basis for promoting new-type urbanization construction and high-quality development. 展开更多

Urbanization is a significant driver of the loss of biodiversity and the disruption of ecosystems.Amphibians are especially vulnerable to the negative impact of urbanization as their life cycles and habitat requirements are complex. The present study investigated the effects of urbanization on amphibian predation networks in suburban Kunming in Yunnan,China and aimed to understand how predation network structure and stability vary with urbanization level. We constructed predation networks by analyzing the stomach contents of amphibians from 12d istinct urbanization gradients. We used the bipartite package in R to evaluate network robustness metrics such as modularity, nestedness, connectivity, and average shortest path length(ASPL).We found that urbanization level is negatively correlated with predation network connectivity(R=−0.67,Ρ=0.02),but there were no significant correlations between urbanization level and nestedness, modularity,or ASPL.Removal of the keystone species destabilized the predation networks at certain locations. The present work highlighted that maintaining prey quantity and diversity preserves predation network connectivity and stabilizes the overall network in urbanizing landscapes. It also underscored the critical role that keystone species play in sustaining network robustness. The results of this research provided insights into the ecological consequences of urbanization. They also suggested that conservation measures should protect the key species and habitats of amphibian predation networks and mitigate the negative impact of urban development on them. 展开更多

Great Lakes Regions(GLRs)in China often confront landscape fragmentation, wetland degradation, and ecological resilience(ER)losses owing to extensive and intensive urbanization. In GLRs,however, the ER responses to urbanization remain unclear. This study explored the spatiotemporal evolution of ER and urbanization in five GLRs in China to analyze the ER dynamic patterns along center−lakeside−periphery gradient. The Spatial Durbin Model(SDM)and Panel Threshold Model(PTM)were combined to reveal the spillover and threshold effects of urbanization in five GLRs.The results indicate that the ER in five GLRs declined with a rate of 21%from 2000 to 2020.There was a clear“center-periphery”contraction trend with low ER areas primarily spreading to human activity-concentrated regions such as lakesides, riversides, and road networks.Driven by economic and land urbanization, the average urbanization level increased from 0.06 to 0.13,where lakesides, riversides, and road networks were key areas undergoing expansion. The urbanization showed a noticeable negative spatial spillover effect on ER.Away from central lakes, the negative impacts on ER exhibited a two-phase decrease with the threshold of 81 km.This study contributes to the understanding of human-environment interactions by examining the ecological resilience response process of GLRs under the impact of urbanization.Based on a multidimensional“center−lakeside−periphery”analytical model, this study provides a strategic framework for ecological construction in GLRs in China, promoting sustainable development and adaptive capacity in vulnerable areas. 展开更多

Ecosystem services(ESs)are crucial for human survival and development, and changes in ESs are closely linked to both the natural environment and human activity. As counties have become the fundamental unit of China’s new urbanization, investigating the dynamic processes of ESs,the driving mechanisms, and their coupling with urbanization at the county scale holds significant theoretical and practical value. However, further research is still needed to analyze the persistent impact of county-scale urbanization on the ecological environment and the coupling relationship between them. This study measured the spatio-temporal characteristics of ESs and urbanization level(UL)in the Yellow River Basin(YRB)from 2000–2020 at county scale, utilizing multi-period land use, meteorological, and statistical data.Subsequently, the research investigated the effects of anthropogenic and natural factors on comprehensive ecosystem services(CES),as well as the coupling relationship between the UL and CESs.The results revealed fluctuating ES levels across different periods, characterized by a general upward trend.Geographically, lower levels were observed in the eastern plain and western desert areas, while higher levels were observed in the central transition area. From 2000–2020,the impervious surface area, population, and gross domestic product(GDP)of the YRB increased consistently. The UL decreased gradually from the southeast to the northwest, with high levels concentrated in city centers.Among anthropogenic factors, population agglomeration and land development significantly influenced CES,with their impact intensifying over time.Slope and elevation were identified as the primary natural factors affecting CES.During the study period, the overall coupling coordination degree of the UL and CES in each county increased, albeit with notable spatial disparities.Regarding synchronization types, the number of downstream counties experiencing ecological losses increased. This study provides insights for managing the relationship between urbanization and ecosystems and offers a framework to migrate the conflict between regional socioeconomic development and the natural environment in the YRB. 展开更多

Rapid urbanization has resulted in a substantial decrease in natural habitats, posing considerable challenges to bird survival.Bird nests, which are temporary structures used for breeding, reflect adaptation strategies based on their material composition. However, how urban expansion influences the selection of nest materials—particularly the incorporation of anthropogenic nesting materials—remains poorly understood, limiting our understanding of species'adaptive strategies in human-dominated landscapes. To address this knowledge gap, this study examined the nest material characteristics of 432 Azure-winged Magpie(Cyanopica cyanus)nests in Wuhan,Hubei Province,China,to assess the influence of urbanization on nest material selection.Azure-winged Magpies utilized diverse nest materials, mainly branches, moss, soil, polyester fibers, and plastics.Furthermore, nest weight markedly varied among the urban centers, outskirts, and rural areas, with nests in urban centers and outskirts being substantially lighter than those in rural areas.Particularly, the weight of natural nest materials(NNMs)in urban centers and outskirts was considerably lower than that in rural areas, whereas the weight of anthropogenic nesting materials(ANMs)in urban centers did not markedly differ from that in rural areas but was notably higher than that in the outskirts.Across all the three areas, the NNM proportion was substantially higher than that of ANMs.Among ANMs,polyester fibers and plastics constituted relatively high proportions.Furthermore, the weight of ANMs reduced as the distance between the nests and buildings increased. Thus, urbanization may affect the nest material selection of Azure-winged Magpies, showing their behavioral adjustments to urbanization pressures and ecological strategies for using local resources. This study provides a scientific basis for urban biodiversity conservation. 展开更多

Under the increasingly tight constraints of resources and environment, achieving the coordinated advancement of urbanization and ecological protection has become a core issue for regional sustainable development in the new era. This study develops a dual-dimensional urbanization evaluation system incorporating both population and economic indicators, and integrates a comprehensive ecological resilience assessment framework based on size, density, and morphology to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution and coordination between urbanization and ecological resilience in Quanzhou’s districts from 2018 to 2022.The results reveal a distinct spatial pattern in which urbanization levels are lower in central areas and higher in peripheral regions.Licheng District demonstrates the highest urbanization level with an average value of 0.78,while Luojiang District remains at the lowest level, constrained by economic development factors.Regarding ecological resilience,Luojiang District exhibits a highlevel model of“high size resilience-medium density resilience-high morphology resilience.”In contrast,Fengze District exhibits the poorest resilience with a significant 29.74%decline over the five years. The coordination analysis reveals a spatial configuration characterized by imbalance in central districts and better coordination in peripheral areas.Licheng District achieves optimal coordination through enhanced density resilience.Quangang District maintains basic coordination despite a 7.47%decline,which is influenced by energy-intensive industries. Both Luojiang and Fengze Districts experience severe coordination imbalances, with Luojiang constrained by urbanization delays and Fengze suffering from poor performance across all three resilience dimensions under intensive development pressure. The study reveals the intrinsic mechanism underlying the coordinated development of urbanization and ecological resilience. The findings provide a scientific basis for formulating differentiated development strategies in economically developed coastal areas, offering significant reference value for promoting high-quality regional development and ecological civilization construction. 展开更多

Urbanization provides novel habitats for bird species, while simultaneously posing numerous threats to them.Although several bird species have successfully adapted to urbanization, the underlying adaptation mechanisms of reproductive success remain poorly understood in rapidly urbanizing areas. To this aim,a total of 168 breeding pairs of the Chinese Blackbird(Turdus mandarinus)were monitored during the breeding season(March–July)from 2018 to 2023.We used environmental factors(including nest tree variables, and concealment variables),phenotypic characteristics of nestlings, number of nest predation events, and quantiffiified urbanization scores to understand the impact of urbanization on breeding performance of Chinese Blackbirds. In our study, generalized linear models and structural equation modeling showed that Chinese Blackbirds tended to initiate laying earlier and lay eggs with larger volume along an increasing urbanization gradient. We also found that urbanization did not affect the growth condition of nestlings, and the predation risk was lower in more urbanized habitats. Most importantly, urbanization did not have negative consequences on the reproductive success of Chinese Blackbirds. Our results show changes in the breeding behavior of Chinese Blackbirds as they adapt to rapid urbanization and suggest that certain more urbanized areas may be suitable for the breeding of bird populations. 展开更多

As the world’s population expands and urbanization accelerates, the interconnectedness of water, energy, and food(WEF)resources becomes increasingly critical. In the Yangtze River Delta(YRD)of China, rapid urban expansion has heightened WEF demand and environmental pressures, posing challenges to WEF system resilience(WEFSR).To clarify how new-type urbanization(NU)affects WEFSR across dimensions, spatial effects, and periods, this study constructed a multidimensional index system for NU(covering demographic, economic, social, spatial, ecological, and urban-rural integration dimensions)together with a WEFSR index capturing resistance, recoverability, and adaptability, based on panel data from 41 cities in the YRD from 2010 to 2022.We measured city-level WEFSR and NU,analyzed their spatial correlations, and applied a spatial Durbin model to quantify the direct and spillover effects of NU on WEFSR.Results showed that while NU and WEFSR increased,a negative spatial correlation between them highlighted an imbalance in the distribution of NU and WEF resources.NU exerted a negative local effect(−0.057)but a positive spillover effect(0.308)on WEFSR.Population, economic, and social urbanization played a decisive role in the impact of NU on WEFSR.Spatial urbanization negatively impacted the WEFSR of both local and neighboring areas. In contrast,eco-environmental urbanization and urban-rural integration enhanced WEFSR locally and in neighboring areas, with their positive effects being most pronounced in Zhejiang and Anhui provinces.NU reduced local resilience in the WEF subsystems but benefited adjacent regions. These findings provide valuable insights for refining NU strategies and WEF resource management policies in highly urbanized areas. 展开更多

Rapid urbanization(UR)profoundly reshapes landscape patterns and modifies ecological functions, thereby affecting ecosystem services(ES).While previous research has explored this topic, studies examining the complex relationship between UR and ES indicators remain scarce.Taking the Yangtze River Economic Belt(YREB),China as a case study, this study integrates ecological modeling,Random Forest, geographically weighted regression, and bivariate local spatial autocorrelation to analyze the spatiotemporal relationships and interaction mechanisms between multidimensional UR indicators and multiple types of ES from 1980 to 2020.The results show that UR in the YREB follows a clear east-high,west-low gradient pattern, with economic and land urbanization growing notably faster than population urbanization.Among ES,water yield(WY),soil retention(SR),and carbon sequestration have all increased, while habitat quality(HQ)has remained generally stable with a slight decline.UR exerts nonlinear and spatially heterogeneous effects on ES,with SR and HQ negatively affected by population density(POPD)and urban land proportion(ULP),GDP density(GDPD)having positive effects,WY negatively influenced by POPD,net ecosystem productivity(NEP)negatively impacted by ULP,and other UR and ES indicators showing more complex patterns. The spatial interaction between UR and ES is largely characterized by a‘Low URHigh ES'pattern, which enables the functional division of the YREB into Ecological Conservation Areas,Ecological Enhancement Areas,Ecological Source Areas, and Ecological Restoration Areas. This study provides a scientific basis for coordinating regional development and ecological conservation by revealing the spatiotemporal feedback mechanisms within the UR-ES subsystem. The Yangtze River Economic Belt(YREB),China was selected as the study area for this study. As an inland river economic belt with global influence and a pioneering demonstration zone for ecological civilization construction, the YREB has experienced rapid UR since China's reform and opening-up policy in 1978.By 2020,its GDP had reached 47.2 trillion CNY,accounting for about 46.4% of the national total, and its UR rate had exceeded 60%(National Bureau of Statistics of China,2021),making its development process a microcosm of China's broader economic transformation and a representative example of the global UR process.Importantly, the YREB exhibits a notable ecological gradient and UR development differences from west to east(Xu et al.,2021),encompassing both low-and highlevel city types in terms of UR and ES.This diversity provides a representative ideal region for exploring the dynamic changes of ES under different UR contexts. 展开更多

Seasonal cycles are essential components of weather and climatic systems. This study utilized observational data from a meteorological station on an island in the South China Sea from 1961 to 2020, along with ERA5 reanalysis data, to explore the variations in seasonal cycles and thermal comfort characteristics on the island. The observational data revealed that the onset of summer on the island occurred earlier each year, whereas the onset of autumn was gradually delayed, leading to an increase in the duration of summer. Urbanization had played an important role in elevating local temperatures and extending the duration of summer. The thermal comfort index exhibited a clear upward trend annually, reflecting a shift towards warmer and less comfortable conditions due to urbanization. From 1961 to 2020, the annual average thermal comfort index indicated that 36 years(60%) were characterized by hot discomfort, and 24 years(40%) were within the comfortable range. The number of comfortable days per year on the island exhibited a declining trend. Urbanization markedly influenced the thermal comfort levels on the island, contributing to an annual increase in the number of hot discomfort days. However, the reanalysis data did not reflect the actual observed changes in the comfort characteristics on the island. 展开更多

Sikkim, located in the Eastern Himalayan Region, represents one of the 36 globally recognized biodiversity hotspots and harbors an exceptional range of ecosystems within a relatively small geographic area.Over the past few decades, the region has witnessed rapid urbanization alongside other developmental activities such as hydropower construction, road expansion, mining and infrastructure development. While these processes have contributed to socioeconomic development, they have simultaneously exerted significant pressure on the fragile mountain environment. This review examines the impacts of urbanization on biodiversity in the Sikkim Himalaya drawing attention to the ways in which land-use change due to urbanization, habitat fragmentation and economic development have altered ecological dynamics and threatened biodiversity of this region. The findings of the current study suggest that unplanned urban growth has led to the degradation of forest cover, disruption of ecological corridors thereby diminishing ecosystem resilience of the region. In addition, the current study highlights the challenges of balancing developmental imperatives with environmental conservation in the study area where both ecological integrity and human livelihoods are intricately interdependent. This study highlights the urgent need for integrated land-use planning that incorporates ecological corridors, urban green spaces, and community-based conservation to mitigate biodiversity loss.Strengthened governance, sustainable tourism, invasive species control, and systematic biodiversity monitoring are essential tobalance urban development with ecological integrity. Most importantly, holistic and interdisciplinary approaches arecritical to ensuring that urban growth in the Global Biodiversity Hotspot of the Sikkim Himalaya aligns with globalbiodiversity conservation goals and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 展开更多

Urban forests are essential components of green infrastructure, however, rapid urbanization-induced changes in landscape patterns may affect their ecosystem services through complex ecological processes.A total of 184 sample plots in the built-up areas of Nanchang,China, were used as research sites.Urbanization intensities were categorized by the rate of impervious surface area, and forest types were classified into landscape and relaxation forest, attached forest(AF),road forest(RF),and ecological public welfare forest. This study aimed to explore the spatial variations in vegetation characteristics and landscape pattern indices of different forest types under rapid urbanization. The results indicated that the largest patch index(LPI),aggregation index(AI),and percentage of landscape(PLAND)in RF and AF were lower than those in the other forest types(p<0.05).With increasing urbanization intensity, the mean perimeter-area ratio increased by 130.84%,whereas the PLAND,LPI,and AI decreased by 22−86%(p<0.05).Redundancy analysis and variation partitioning suggested that the interpretation rate of landscape pattern indices for variations in vegetation characteristics increased from low to heavy urbanization areas.Especially, the landscape shape index, patch connection index,PLAND,and mean patch size were significantly correlated with vegetation characteristics(e.g.,tree richness, herb coverage, and tree height). In the future, appropriate landscape layout superiority cases should be considered in different urbanization areas and forest types;for instance, increasing the patch connection index will beneficially improve the diversity of trees and herbs in heavy urbanization areas and the RF.This study serves as a reference for maximizing the ecosystem services of urban forests. 展开更多

Urbanization is a complex and multivariate environmental change, leading to habitat fragmentation and loss, changes in local climate, soil imperviousness, pollution, etc. This is likely to exert pressures simultaneously on various dimensions of organisms’multivariate phenotypes, leading to trait shifts with potential ecological consequences. However, responses to urbanization are often studied one(type of)trait at a time.In this context,we studied how,in the brown garden snail Cornu aspersum, shell phenotype(shell size and coloreflectance),behavior(food intake, mobility),and metazoan parasite prevalence respond to urbanization.Within an urbanization gradient spanning the French city of Rennes,we found that snails from more urbanized sites closer to the urban center were smaller, whereas urbanization had no detectable effect on shell reflectance, parasite prevalence,or behavior.Larger snails and snails with paler shells were more likely to be infected by trematode metacercariae and sexually transmitted nematodes(Nemhelix bakeri),respectively.Snails harboring trematode sporocysts ate typically less, while those infected by N.bakeri moved more slowly. We discuss the decrease of snail size along the urbanization gradient in relation to the Urban Heat Island effect and the potential decrease of resource quality and availability in urban sites. The absence of detectable effects of urbanization on shell reflectance, mobility, and parasite prevalence may be due to scale mismatches between how urbanization is measured and how snails experience microhabitats. We propose further experimental and field studies to decipher interactions between urbanization effects, shell phenotype,life-history traits, and parasitism. 展开更多

Urban agglomerations are key drivers of regional socioeconomic development, yet they also maintain ecosystem health(EH).Coordinating urbanization(UR)with EH is vital for sustainable development. However, the local and telecoupling(LTC)dynamics and their driving mechanisms remain understudied, particularly in plateau-mountain areas.Taking the Central Yunnan Urban Agglomeration(CYUA)in China,a typical plateau-mountain urban agglomeration,as a case study,we employed the Local and Telecoupling Coordination Degree(LTCCD)model and geographically and temporally weighted regression(GTWR)to analyze UR and EH coordination and identify driving mechanisms from 2000 to 2020.Our results reveal significant spatial dependence between UR and EH,with UR exerting a negative spillover effect on EH.The bivariate Moran’s I strengthened from−0.176 in 2000 to−0.212 in 2020,highlighting the need for an LTC framework. The LTCCD improved overall but exhibited spatiotemporally uneven patterns;UR lagging behind EH remained the dominant type, while core urban areas showed EH lagging behind UR,accompanied by localized LTCCD declines.Socioeconomic factors initially drove coordination, but their influence declined as ecological factors became more significant.Policy played a crucial role in guiding LTC development paths. The land system served as the key spillover medium, facilitating telecoupling coordinated development. This study provides insights into UR-EH interactions and their driving mechanisms, offering a reference for human-environment harmonization and sustainable development in plateau-mountain regions. 展开更多

In the process of global urbanization, the real estate industry has experienced a series of fluctuations that have affected its sustainable and healthy development, mostly owing to the reduced housing affordability for residents caused by non-synergy of populationland-industry urbanization(PLIU).However, relatively few studies have examined the impact of urbanization on urban residents’housing affordability from a PLIU synergy perspective. This paper analyzes spatial pattern evolution of urban residents’housing affordability from 2005 to 2020 by constructing an evaluation model for measuring urban residents’housing affordability.Through the innovative‘cube’method for measuring PLIU synergy, based on Spatial Durbin Model(SDM)and Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression(GTWR),we analyze the impact of urbanization on urban residents’housing affordability. The main conclusions are presented as follows:first, the overall urban residents’housing affordability in China(excluding Hong Kong,Macao, and Taiwan)has shown an upward trend, with spatial‘zonal differences’and‘hierarchical differences’.Second, the urbanization process has a significant negative effect on urban residents’housing affordability, and the PLIU construct is not synergistic, with population and industry urbanization lagging behind land urbanization.Third, spatial heterogeneity is evident in the impact of urbanization on housing affordability, especially in urban agglomerations. The core of the evolution of urban residents’housing affordability lies in the matching of population, land, and industrial urbanization, and the synergy of the three developments. In the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration and Urban Agglomeration of the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River(MRYR),the advancement of urbanization has a positive effect on urban residents’housing affordability, and PLIU is synergistic, while in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH)urban agglomeration,Pearl River Delta(PRD)urban agglomeration, and Chengdu-Chongqing(CC)urban agglomeration, the effect is negative and PLIU is not synergistic, and with the former two, population urbanization is ahead of the others, whereas land urbanization is ahead of the others in the latter. This paper provides a reasonable explanation for the aforementioned results, revealing the mechanisms of how urbanization affects housing affordability, and can serve as a valuable reference for global research on housing affordability, holding significant importance. 展开更多

Urbanization has been widely recognized as one of the most important factors affecting urban land use, especially in densely populated and ecologically sensitive river basins. Therefore, cities must transition from high-pollution practices to more sustainable land resource management for socio-economic development. The objective of this study was to fill the knowledge gap regarding the impact of urbanization on urban land green use efficiency(ULGUE)and its regional variations. To achieve this, the Malmquist-Luenberger model and a spatial econometric model were employed to assess ULGUE and examine the spatial correlation between urbanization and ULGUE from 2005 to 2022.The analysis was conducted in China's prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt(YREB)and Yellow River Basin(YRB)regions. The results indicated that the ULGUE of the YREB fluctuated upward, whereas that of the YRB fluctuated downward, with cities along the rivers exhibiting higher efficiency was higher. The spatial distribution characteristics of urbanization rates in the two basins demonstrated that the Heihe-Tengchong Line serves as a dividing line for urbanization levels. In addition, the spatial relationship between urbanization and ULGUE exhibited significant heterogeneity across different basins and cities of varying sizes. These findings inform decision-making for sustainable urban development in river basins. 展开更多

Enhancing urban ecological resilience(UER)is a new concept for modern tourism-oriented cities to cope with environmental crises.Revealing the impact of the urbanization on UER is critical to the sustainability of urban ecosystems.Taking Zhangjiajie,a typical tourism-oriented city,as an example, urbanization level(UL)and UER evaluation system were constructed, and the change trend was analyzed. The Granger Causality Test model was used to discuss the relationship between UL and UER.The results showed that:(1)the urbanization rate of Zhangjiajie significantly increased by 0.531 from 2011 to 2020.Cili county has the highest UL,and Wulingyuan district including a large number of scenic spots has the fastest development trend.(2)The ecological restoration was more sensitive in the face of rising pressure, and showed a synchronized change trend with pressure. The high pressure in 2016 had the most significant impact on resistance. This effect continued into 2019,with an average decline in resistance of 0.802.(3)The UL has significantly promoted the improvement of urban ecological restoration.Specially, tourism urbanization was the most significant in scenic spots, while economic and social urbanization played a major role in other regions for the improvement of ecological restoration. 展开更多

Dryland regions face complex interactions between urbanization and ecological changes, where effective coordination is essential for enhancing sustainability and resilience. However, most studies concentrate on the national or provincial scales, with insufficient research on county-level coordination, limiting the ability to provide targeted polifrom a precise perspective. This study addresses this gap by analyzing 39 counties within the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin Urban Agglomeration(HBOYUA),a typical dryland urban cluster in China. We use daytime and nighttime remote sensing images to track the spatio-temporal evolution of urbanization and ecological conditions from 1992 to 2023.A novel quantitative framework based on an improved coupling coordination degree(CCD)is proposed to assess their coordination relationship. The results reveal that:(1)Urbanization and ecological quality both exhibited fluctuating upward trends, with spatial heterogeneity increasing for urbanization and decreasing for the eco-environment.Regions with better ecological conditions had higher urbanization levels.(2)The overall coordinated level improved from imbalance(0.36)to low-level coordination(0.55),although its spatial distribution remained uneven, with central urban areas showing higher CCD than surrounding counties.(3)Socioeconomic factors exerted greater effects on CCD than natural factors, with GDP and land surface temperature(LST)playing a significant role in interaction analysis.(4)In western arid regions, urbanization did not necessarily harm ecosystems;instead, ecological conditions improved alongside urbanization. This research offers targeted and valuable references for county and city governments in resource allocation and sustainable development. The proposed methodology is also adaptable for urban resilience studies in other regions. 展开更多
