Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation with Iterative Decoding (BICM-ID) is a bandwidth ef- ficient transmission, where the bit error rate is reduced through the iterative information exchange between the inner demapper and the outer decoder. The choice of the symbol mapping is the crucial design parameter. This paper indicates that the Harmonic Mean of the Minimum Squared Euclidean (HMMSE) distance is the best criterion for the mapping design. Based on the design criterion of the HMMSE distance, a new search algorithm to find the optimized labeling maps for BICM-ID system is proposed. Numerical results and performance comparison show that the new labeling search method has a low complexity and outperforms other labeling schemes using other design criterion in BICM-ID system, therefore it is an optimized labeling method. 展开更多

In this paper, A Belief Propagation concatenated Orderd-Statistic Decoder (BP-OSD) based on accumulated Log-Likelihood Ratio (LLR) is proposed for medium and short lengths Low Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes coded Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM) systems. The accumulated soft output values delivered by every BP iteration are used as reliability values of Soft-Input Soft-Output OSD (SISO-OSD) decoder and the soft output of SISO-OSD is used as a priori probabilities of the demodulator for the next iteration. Simulation results show that this improved algorithm achieves noticeable performance gain with only modest increase in computation complexity. 展开更多

Realtime speech communications require high efficient compression algorithms to encode speech signals. As the compressed speech parameters are highly sensitive to transmission errors, robust source and channel decoding and demodulation schemes are both important and of practical use. In this paper, an it- erative joint souree-channel decoding and demodulation algorithm is proposed for mixed excited linear pre- diction (MELP) vocoder by both exploiting the residual redundancy and passing soft information through- out the receiver while introducing systematic global iteration process to further enhance the performance. Being fully compatible with existing transmitter structure, the proposed algorithm does not introduce addi- tional bandwidth expansion and transmission delay. Simulations show substantial error correcting perfor- mance and synthesized speech quality improvement over conventional separate designed systems in delay and bandwidth constraint channels by using the joint source-channel decoding and demodulation (JSCCM) algorithm. 展开更多

By analyzing the existent mapping design criterion, four aspects are found as the key techniques for choosing a label mapping. Based on this discovery, a novel mapping design criteflon is proposed and two label mappings are searched according to it. Simulation results show that the performance of BICM-ID using the novel mappings is better than the former ones. The extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart is introduced and it is used to evaluate the proposed mapping design criteria. 展开更多

The demodulation and decoding solution commonly used in the bit interleaving code modulation and the LDPC coded demodulation and decoding system of the iterative decoding (BICM-ID) is to report the soft information output from the decoder of the receiver to the demodulator as priori information for completing the decoding. However, this will give rise to the reduction of the minimum Euclidean distances between codes, so that the performances of the system decline under non-fading Gaussian channel. According to this problem, an optimized iterative demodulation decoding solution is proposed and also is analyzed using simulation. Applications on iterative control and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system were developed. Two new charts derived from extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart were employed as the designing tools, which are called as output mutual information chart with defined iterative degree (DID) chart and near optimum output mutual information (NOMI) chart respectively. Different from the EXIT chart, they can show the iterative performance on the whole signal-to-noise ratio range with one single curve, whereas computation complexity is greatly reduced compared with conventional bit error ratio (BER) performance curve. The iterative control was implemented according to a near-optimum iterative degree vector determined by NOMI chart, the reasonability of uncertain parameters was analyzed in one MIMO system. Through the compa... Mapping design criteria of bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) with square 16QAM are analyzed. Three of the existing criteria are analyzed and compared with each other. Through the comparison, two main characters of the mapping design criteria are found. They are the harmonic mean of the minimum squared Euclidean distance and the average of Hamming distances with the nearest Euclidean distance. Based on these two characters, a novel mapping design criterion is proposed and a label mapping named mixed mapping is searched according to it. Simulation results show that mixed mapping performs better than the other mappings in BICM-ID system. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel mapping scheme for bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding(BICM-ID).The symbol mapping is composed of two QPSK with different radiuses and phases,called cross equalization-8PSK-quasi-semi set partitioning(CE-8PSK-Quasi-SSP).Providing the same average power,the proposed scheme can increase the minimum squared Euclidean distance(MSED)and then improve the receiving performance of BICM-ID compared with conventional symbol mapping schemes.Simultaneously,a modified iteration decoding algorithm is proposed in this paper.In the process of iteration decoding,different proportion of the extrinsic information to the systematic observations results in distinct decoding performance.At high SNR(4~9dB),the observation information plays a more important role than the extrinsic information.Simulation results show that the proportion set at 1.2 is more suitable for the novel mapping in BICM-ID.When the BER is 10-4,more than 0.9dB coding gain over Rayleigh channels can be achieved for the improved mapping and decoding scheme. 展开更多

结合几何成形与概率成形的思想,提出了一种适用于比特交织编码调制系统的星座成形映射方法。该方法基于实用信号星座,通过不使用部分能量较大的信号点并利用多对一的映射关系,使发送信号逼近最佳输入概率分布。利用解调器和译码器之间... 结合几何成形与概率成形的思想,提出了一种适用于比特交织编码调制系统的星座成形映射方法。该方法基于实用信号星座,通过不使用部分能量较大的信号点并利用多对一的映射关系,使发送信号逼近最佳输入概率分布。利用解调器和译码器之间的迭代译码,该方法可方便地获得成形增益。基于容量和外信息转移图分析,给出了信号星座和信号到符号映射的优化方法。理论分析和仿真结果表明,在高斯白噪声信道和独立Rayleigh衰落信道下,该映射方法利用大信号星座在采用迭代译码的比特交织编码调制系统中均能取得优于传统Gray映射的误码性能,且随着调制阶数的增大可进一步提高成形增益。 展开更多

The 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (16QAM) is a high spectral efficient scheme for high-speed transmission systems. To remove the phase ambiguity in the coherent detection system, differential-encoded 16QAM (DE-16QAM) is usually used, however, it will cause performance degradation about 3 dB as compared to the conventional 16QAM. To overcome the performance loss, a serial concatenated system with outer low density parity check (LDPC) codes and inner DE-16QAM is proposed. At the receiver, joint iterative differential demodulation and decoding (ID) is carried out to approach the maximum likelihood performance. Moreover, a genetic evolution algorithm based on the extrinsic information transfer chart is proposed to optimize the degree distribution of the outer LDPC codes. Both theoretical analyses and simulation results indicate that this algorithm not only compensates the performance loss, but also obtains a significant performance gain, which is up to 1 dB as compared to the conventional non-DE-16QAM. 展开更多
