Background:The Act Belong Commit-ABCs ofMental Health campaign is the world’s first comprehensive,population-wide,community-based initiative to promote mental health.In response to a growing demand for valid tools to monitor mental health promoting behaviours,this study presents the development and psychometric evaluation of the ABC-Mental Health Promoting Behaviours(ABC-MHPB)scale in a Danish population-based sample.Methods:A 10-item scale was developed,based on the ABC framework,to assess mental health promoting behaviours.A total of 119,221 randomly selected participants aged 18+filled out an electronic survey,including the scale to measure the underlying construct of mental health promoting behaviours.Analyses pertaining to construct,content,reliability,discriminant,and convergent validity assessments were carried out,and an operationalization was proposed.Results:The initial 10-item version showed inadequate model fit,resulting in the removal of one item.Construct validity testing supported a 9-item three-factor model with satisfactory fit.Full invariance was observed across education(primary/unknown vs.higher),and partial invariance across sex(women vs.men)and age(<25 vs.25+),with content,discriminant,and convergent validity also supported.Based on a practical operationalization of the scale,regression results showed a cross-sectional pattern characteristic of a dose-response association with the outcomes of mental well-being and loneliness.Conclusion:The findings suggest that the 9-item ABC-MHPB scale is an appropriate tool for assessing and monitoring mental health promoting behaviours in the general population and might be relevant as a tool to evaluate interventions aiming to promote mental health.Further validation over time and in diverse populations,along with intervention and longitudinal studies,is needed to confirm its associations with mental health outcomes. 展开更多

Background The effectiveness of life skills-based prevention programs to prevent substance addiction has been underexplored in Türkiye,likely in part due to the lack of validated measurement tools developed specifically for that purpose.Therefore,the aim of this study is to develop a tool to measure life skills for middle school students.The present study aims to test the factorial structure,reliability,convergent and discriminant validity,and measurement invariance across gender and age groups of the Green Crescent Life Skills(GCLS)Scale.Methods The study was conducted in Istanbul with two different sample groups.The first sample consisted of 566 and the second sample consisted of 885 middle school students.In the study,exploratory factor analysis(EFA)was applied to the first sample,and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)was applied to the second sample to test the factorial structure of the scale.Convergent and discriminant validity were examined to provide evidence for construct-based validity.The reliability of the scale was assessed with Cronbach’sα,composite reliability,McDonald’sω,and test-retest.Results The EFA results showed that the scale consisted of four factors(self-awareness,coping with negative emotions,thinking skills,and peer relations).CFA results also confirmed this structure.The results revealed a significant positive correlation(r=0.52,p<0.01)between life skills and avoidance self-efficacy scores,as well as a significant negative correlation(r=−0.53,p<0.01)between life skills and attitude toward drug use scores.Additionally,it was found that measurement invariances based on gender and age groups were provided.It was determined that all sub-dimensions had sufficient reliability levels.Conclusion The findings of this validation study show that the GCLS Scale,which assesses four skills in a self-reported format,is a valid and reliable scale with considerable potential utility in monitoring life skills in Turkish adolescent populations. 展开更多

Student engagement is vital for effective language learning,especially for English as a Foreign Language(EFL)learners.However,its measurement remains problematic as existing scales are often lengthy and overlook the social dimension,failing to fully capture the multifaceted nature of engagement.Adopting an exploratory mixed-methods approach,this study developed and validated a concise English engagement scale based on Hoi and Le Hang’s(2021)online student engagement scale,which includes the social dimension and is well-suited for English learning contexts.The data were collected from two cohorts of Chinese secondary school EFL learners,including 362 students in the pilot study and 3,238 students in the main study.The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the four-factor structure of engagement,encompassing behavioral,cognitive,emotional,and social dimensions.This 12-item scale demonstrated robust psychometric properties with high internal reliability and construct validity.Moreover,the criterion-related validity of the scale was substantiated by examining the relationship among academic emotions,student engagement,and gender.This short scale is a valuable tool for assessing English engagement among secondary school students,particularly within Confucian cultural contexts. 展开更多

Arbitration is a key non-litigation commercial mechanism for the resolution of disputes, and the quality and credibility of its awards depend largely on the competency of the arbitrators. However, the selection and evaluation systems for arbitrators in China have long faced challenges such as the vague criteria for competency and an unclear professionalization path for arbitrators. To address these issues, this study is grounded in the context of actual Chinese arbitration practice and based on the competency iceberg model. Through a methodological approach encompassing literature reviews, behavioral event interviews, expert revisions, and questionnaire surveys, a Chinese Arbitrator Competency Scale was developed and validated in this study. Examination of the findings indicated that the scale needed to consist of five dimensions—communication and coordination, cognitive skills, ethical conduct, work motivation, and personality traits—and possess a total of 28 specific indicators. Confirmatory analysis of the factors demonstrates a good fit for the five-dimensional model, with each of the dimensions exhibiting high reliability and validity. This scale is innovative in integrating the competency elements with Chinese characteristics, such as commercial acumen, crosscultural mediation skills, and adaptability to the local rule of law. This research not only enriches the competency theory in regard to the field of human resource management but also provides a scientific framework of standards and measurement tools for the selection, training, and evaluation of arbitrators. It thus has significant practical value for enhancing the professionalism and international competitiveness of China's arbitration system. 展开更多

Against the background of the Chinese government's advocacy for deepening the reform of aesthetic education evaluation,this study focuses on musical aesthetic perception ability.It aims to enrich aesthetic education evaluation tools applicable to Chinese students and promote the diversification of evaluation methods.First,the study sorts out relevant definitions of aesthetic perception and existing assessment tools.Then,based on the perspective of cognitive neuroaesthetics,it constructs the dimensions of junior high school students'musical aesthetic perception ability,and accordingly develops the Scale for Assessing Junior High School Students'Musical Aesthetic Perception Ability.Through Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA)and Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA),the scale shows good reliability and validity(23 items,Cronbach's=0.916,RMSEA=0.064),verifying the six-dimensional theoretical hypothesis of musical aesthetic perception ability.At the application level,a survey conducted on junior high school students in Suzhou reveals significant differences in musical aesthetic perception ability among groups with different genders,grades,and musical learning experiences.This provides a reference basis for the assessment and cultivation of musical aesthetic perception ability. 展开更多

How to capture the role of culture in individual behavior is a difficult question,in part because it is often embedded in the research approach.Many researchers have stressed the entrenched ethnocentrism of mainstream psychology approaches.In response,some Chinese scholars have turned to sociology theories to create a relation-centered approach for investigating the psychology of Confucian societies.Scholars in Asia recently have proposed a theoretical model of psychological functioning in Chinese societies that encompasses the individual’s sociocultural environment,which they labeled the relational orientation framework(ROF).The ROF is comprised of a structural-relational factor grounded in sociological structuration theory with five dimensions that shape the individual’s position in the social network,and a relational agency factor based on social exchange theory with four dimensions that capture the individual’s orientation to exchange aspects of relationships.This study assesses the proposed theoretical structure of the model with empirical data.Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with two independent samples from universities in China's Mainland(N=601,M age=20.8 years)supported the structural-relational factor with the expected five dimensions and the relational agency factor with a modified version of the four dimensions with acceptable reliability and validity scores and good levels of model-data fit.We provide recommendations for refining conceptualization of the two factors for future development of an assessment tool. 展开更多

There is a scarcity of literature discussing nurses’ behaviors toward caring for suspected or confirmed human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients. The development of a scale specific to measure nurses’ behaviors will allow health institutions to assess the disposition of their nurses in terms of HIV care. This study aims to present the rigors of developing and validating a reliable instrument to contextualize these nurses’ behaviors. This study utilized a sequential exploratory mixed method design to develop the NB-CSHAP scale. Thematic analysis was done on the qualitative data from the interviews with persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) from which items were selected to be included in the scale. Exploratory factor analysis was utilized to extract the factors and Cronbach’s alpha was used to assess the reliability of the instrument. Four factors were extracted and are categorized as either caring or discriminatory behaviors. These include: (1) service-oriented, (2) openhanded, (3) perceptive, and (4) discriminatory. The scale has an internal consistency of 0.73. The scale shows acceptable psychometric properties, hence can be used to assess the nurses’ behaviors in caring for confirmed or suspected HIV clients. The scale may be used by health institutions to determine the quality of the patient care provided by their nurses to clients with confirmed or suspected HIV . 展开更多

Loneliness is a complex and usually unpleasant emotional response to isolation,which has been considered the latest global health epidemic exacerbated by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic,affecting nearly twothirds of older adults.Some profound health implications carried by loneliness include depression,cognitive impairment,hypertension and frailty.Across the world,there is no consensus definition of loneliness,and its measure is based on the phenomenological perspective of the individual.The 20-item University of California Los Angeles Loneliness Scale version 3(UCLA-20)is the most common measure.This scale demonstrates acceptable psychometric properties but is too long and complex for a phone interview.This paper addresses the increasing need to shorten this scale by adopting classical item response theory and network psychometrics to advance scale development.Through an item reduction analysis,we trimmed the original scale into an effective short form,which is as valid as the original one.With respondents’time at a premium in most research nowadays,this shortform scale is an efficient and practical alternative to the original UCLA-20. 展开更多

Objective：The aim of this study was to develop a frailty scale for the elderly in China and to examine its reliability and validity.Methods：The method of convenient sampling was used to select 375 elderly individuals in different communities of Tianjin,China.EuroQpl-5D was used to evaluate the criterion validity.Cronbach＇s αcoefficients,correlation analysis,exploratory factor analysis,criterion-related validity,and internal consistency were used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale.To evaluate the test—retest reliability,30 old people were re-evaluated after 2 weeks.Results：The final version of the frailty scale（FI-35） consisted of 35 items.Eleven factors were extracted by a principal factor analysis and varimax rotation,with a cumulative contribution of 86.00%.Eleven dimensions were positively correlated（r = 0.130-0.541,P 〈 0.01）.Cronbach＇s α coefficient was 0.952,and the alpha coefficients of 11 dimensions ranged from 0.730 to 0.992.The test-retest reliability was0.874 for the total scale.The split-half reliability of the scale was 0.808.Structural equation modeling was used to perform a confirmatory factor analysis,and various parameters were all acceptable.Conclusions：FI-35 met the requirement of scale development and showed good reliability and validity;thus,it can be used as an efficient frailty measurement tool for Chinese elderly. 展开更多

Background:Ethical problems in the nursing profession are mostly found in the undesirable ethical behavior(EBE)of nurses.If there is no concern about these problems,it may negatively affect the quality of nursing care,patients’safety,and trust in the nursing profession.In assessing nurses’EBE,it is important to develop an instrument that reflects the actual EBE of nurses.Objectives:To develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Ethical Behavior for Thai Nurses Scale(EBTNS).Methods:The construct definition,5 sub-constructs,43 items,and the hypothesized model were synthesized and generated from a comprehensive literature review and existing research instruments by using document analysis.The EBTNS was verified for content validity by 4 experts.Of the 43 items,37 items were retained for psychometric testing.The construct validity was tested by using second-order confirmatory factor analysis(CFA).The EBTNS was tested on 1500 professional nurses working at tertiary,secondary,and primary hospitals in 6 regions(the central,northern,northeast,eastern,western,and southern)of Thailand.Proportional quota sampling was applied to recruit participants.Results:The hypothesized model fitted the empirical data.All 37 first-order indicators and 5 second-order sub-constructs showed significantly standardized factor loadings and effect sizes.The standardized factor loadings of 37 first-order indicators ranged from 0.58 to 0.89,and the construct reliabilities were moderate to substantial(R2=0.34-0.79).The 5 second-order sub-constructs displayed the standardized effect sizes,ranging from 0.81 to 0.96,and accounted for 65%-96%of the total explained variance.In addition,the construct validity was supported by convergent validity and discriminant validity.It also satisfied Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 5 sub-constructs from 0.87 to 0.94,and a full scale was 0.97.Conclusions:The psychometric properties of the EBTNS are acceptable.This instrument has the potential to be used for evaluating and monitoring to prevent ethical problems of Thai nurses. 展开更多

In a number of emerging markets such as China,native consumers may avoid certain domestic products when foreign products are available.However,the studies on the unfavorable attitudes toward the products of one’s own country are not sufficient.This article aims to develop a construct to explain this phenomenon.The measurement scale was developed and validated using responses from 318 Chinese consumers with respect to electronics and clothing.The judgment sampling method produced representative distributions in terms of age and gender.The items were first generated and refined based on the content validity.Exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis,and convergent and discriminant validity were then established.Finally,this study investigates relationships among consumer repulsion,domestic product ownership,and negative word of mouth,to confirm the nomological validity.This study develops a construct—consumer repulsion—that can be used to articulate native consumers’unfavorable attitudes toward domestic products from consumers’individual identity-expressiveness perspective.First,this study develops a scale for consumer repulsion.The scale shows good reliability,unidimensionality,convergent validity,discriminant validity,and nomological validity.The scale helps explain the nature and impact of country biases,and integrates and expands current studies in this field,which should prove helpful in further research on this topic.Furthermore,this study proposes a three-dimensional model of consumer repulsion consisting of affective repulsion,cognitive repulsion,and conative repulsion.Finally,these findings have shown that linking domestic products to social identity and self-identity will likely influence domestic product ownership and word of mouth of native consumers. 展开更多

Based on the newest understandings of geological assessment and new progresses in engineering technologies in the development of shale gas rich in the southern Sichuan Basin,this paper analyzed the shale gas enrichment laws and the key factors of its commercial production,discussed the scale and efficient development modes,and clarified the further developing orientation.The following findings were concluded.(1)The Lower Silurian Longmaxi shale is the sweetest spot in this study area with a low density and a high uraniumhorium(U/Th)ratio,TOC content,quartz content,and free gas content.Besides,its distribution laws are mainly controlled by the sedimentary facies of deep water shelf.(2)The overpressured zones away from the ancient(present)erosion zones and large faults,mainly controlled by multi-stage tectonic evolution,belong to the most favorable sweet spots not only because there are well-developed organic matters and pores but the produced gas there is mainly of secondary cracking retention oil.(3)Layout,drilling,completion(fracturing)and management of wells will be essential to achieve high productions in the shale gas production.(4)The existing main technologies have helped achieve efficient development of quality shale gas resources underground less than 3500 m in such national shale gas demonstration zones as ChangningeWeiyuan,Zhaotong,etc.Also,there shows a good potential of shale gas resources in those shallower strata and the strata with the burial depth of 3500-4000 m.In conclusion,with the help of continuous progress in technologies,an annual shale gas production rate of 40 billion cubic meters will be possibly achieved in this study area. 展开更多

Objective This study aimed to explore the clinical value of Children Neuropsychological and Behavioral Scale-Revision 2016(CNBS-R2016)for Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD)screening in the presence of developmental surveillance.Methods All participants were evaluated by the CNBS-R2016 and Gesell Developmental Schedules(GDS).Spearman’s correlation coefficients and Kappa values were obtained.Taking GDS as a reference assessment,the performance of the CNBS-R2016 for detecting the developmental delays of children with ASD was analyzed with receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.The efficacy of the CNBS-R2016 to screen for ASD was explored by comparing Communication Warning Behavior with Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule,Second Edition(ADOS-2).Results In total,150 children aged 12–42 months with ASD were enrolled.The developmental quotients of the CNBS-R2016 were correlated with those of the GDS(r=0.62–0.94).The CNBS-R2016 and GDS had good diagnostic agreement for developmental delays(Kappa=0.73–0.89),except for Fine Motor.There was a significant difference between the proportions of Fine Motor,delays detected by the CNBS-R2016 and GDS(86.0%vs.77.3%).With GDS as a standard,the areas under the ROC curves of the CNBS-R2016 were above 0.95 for all the domains except Fine Motor,which was 0.70.In addition,the positive rate of ASD was 100.0%and 93.5%when the cut-off points of 7 and 12 in the Communication Warning Behavior subscale were used,respectively.Conclusion The CNBS-R2016 performed well in developmental assessment and screening for children with ASD,especially by Communication Warning Behaviors subscale.Therefore,the CNBS-R2016 is worthy of clinical application in children with ASD in China. 展开更多

To develop the cost climate survey scale( CCSS) used in construction enterprises,the design concepts,principles and the process diagrams of CCSS are proposed.Through questionnaire investigation and expert interviews,314 projects are established and the CCSS that is made up of 7 dimensions framework and 30 levels is preliminarily determined.After categorized merger,pre-test analysis and multiple items refining,16 projects of CCSS are eventually compiled.In order to verify the credibility and validity of the CCSS,200 employees in Qinhuangdao construction company as the samples are tested.SPSS 21.0 is used to analyze the reliability,validity and rationality of level divisions,and Amos 22.0 is for analyzing the degree of model adaptation in this survey.Finally,the current cost climate situation of the construction site in the company is evaluated,the deficiencies of the cost culture of the construction site are pointed out.This study shows that strengthening the cost knowledge training has a significant positive effect on the cost climate cognition of the employees.Nevertheless,accumulation of work experience has a dual impact on that.The CCSS is not only an important foundation for the cost climate research and its theoretical development,but also the premise of the cost climate quantitative research.An appropriate CCSS,to some extent,can reflect the cognitive level of all kinds of employees in one enterprise and cost savings degree of the enterprise in a certain time.The development of CCSS reflects the originality and interactivity,and fills a blank of the CCSS in construction,which is considered to be an effective tool for cost climate research in construction. 展开更多

The purpose of this study is to develop a valid, reliable, and useful scale for measuring visual mathematics literacy of teacher candidates. To that end, an item pool consisting of 60 items of pentad Likert type is established by making use of resources related to subject and opinions of teacher candidates. In accordance with expert opinions, four of the 60 items were removed from the scale and a 54 items scale form draft was prepared. Draft scale has been applied to 325 students studying in the mathematics teacher programs of Faculty of Education, Cumhuriyet University and Faculty of Education, Dicle University Ziya Gokalp in the first semester of 2014-2015 academic years. As a result of data analysis, a visual mathematics literacy scale （GMOO） in pentad Likert type with 37 items is developed. It is observed that 37 items in the final scale are gathered under five factors and total variance ratio explained by these factors is 44.246%. Cronhach alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale is calculated as 0.904. In the end of the study, a valid and reliable scale to determine the visual mathematics literacy ofteacber candidates has been developed. 展开更多

This study aims to develop a valid instrument measuring personal and social responsibility in physical education settings that is suitable for Chinese high school students age 14 and above.This instrument consists of eight aspects,which builds upon the levels of responsibility in Hellison’s(2011)[9]Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility Model(TPSR).The eight aspects in the measurement include goal,responsibility,respecting the rights and feelings of others,participation and effort,self-direction,caring,and value.The validation of the measurement was conducted based on the responses from 1091 high school students in Macao,China.The convergent and discriminant validity tests and a maximum likelihood confirmation factor analysis were performed using AMOS 21.The Bollen-Stine bootstrapping model was applied to adjust nonnormality data.Results supported a good validity and reliability of the items in the instrument. 展开更多

With studies abroad and our preliminary investigation as base, this study developed a scale to test the factors SRL includes. According to the result of 905 teachers working in elementary school by exploratory factor analysis, the SRL for elementary teachers is consisted of its sociality （it included selecting leads and seeking for instructing）, its motivation（it included self-improvement and self-excelling）, its methods（it included strategy use and habitual behavior）, and its outcomes（it included extensive reading and teachers＇ professional development）. All the result indicated Teachers＇ SRL Scale had clear factor structure, good reliability and validity. It can be used to test the current operating situation of SRL for teachers working in elementary school. 展开更多

Comparing with other renewable energy the nuclear power chain has very low greenhouse gas emission, so it will play more important role in China's low-carbon economy. The paper also discussed the necessity of nuclear power development to achieve emission reduction, energy structure adjustment, nuclear power safety,environmental protection, enhancement of nuclear power technology, nuclear waste treatment, and disposal, as well as nuclear power plant decommissioning. Based on the safety record and situation of the existing power plants in China, the current status of the development of world nuclear power technology, and the features of the independently designed advanced power plants in China, this paper aims to demonstrate the safety of nuclear power. A nuclear power plant will not cause harm either to the environment and nor to the public according to the real data of radioactivity release, which are obtained from an operational nuclear plant. The development of nuclear power technology can enhance the safety of nuclear power. Further, this paper discusses issues related to the nuclear fuel cycle, the treatment, and disposal strategies of nuclear waste, and the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant, all of which are issues of public concern. 展开更多

目的探讨影响孤独症谱系障碍(ASD)患儿康复干预效果的相关因素,为优化个体化康复策略提供依据。方法采用回顾性队列研究,选择2020年12月—2025年3月期间浙江大学医学院附属儿童医院康复科入训的75例ASD患儿为研究对象,患儿接受基于循证... 目的探讨影响孤独症谱系障碍(ASD)患儿康复干预效果的相关因素,为优化个体化康复策略提供依据。方法采用回顾性队列研究,选择2020年12月—2025年3月期间浙江大学医学院附属儿童医院康复科入训的75例ASD患儿为研究对象,患儿接受基于循证医学研究的多元化干预,随访时长0.76(0.39,1.19)年。收集患儿的临床资料与相关背景信息及Griffiths发育评估量表随访数据,采用广义估计方程模型评估康复干预时长及相关背景因素对ASD患儿Griffiths发育商变化的影响。结果经康复干预,患儿语言(Z=4.04)、个人-社会(t=3.43)、手眼协调(t=2.07)、表现(t=2.68)、逻辑推理(t=5.23)5个维度发育商及总发育商(t=3.93)显著提升(P1.0年时,患儿个人-社会(β=8.55)、语言(β=11.01)、手眼协调(β=5.55)、表现(β=8.02)、逻辑推理(β=10.63)能区DQ均显著提高(P<0.05)。多种背景因素对干预疗效具有显著主效应,其中早产、普通话环境、父亲高文化程度、父母年龄较大与更佳的发育商提升相关(P<0.05)。干预时长与患儿的性别、照护者结构等因素存在显著交互作用(P<0.05)。男性患儿在个人-社会上的获益随干预时间显著增加(χ2=12.993,P=0.005);照护结构方面,初期由父母或祖辈照护的儿童提升较快,长期则以“两代人共同抚养”模式最优。结论ASD患儿的干预疗效受多重背景因素影响,干预时间越长,发育商提升越明显。应综合考虑患儿个体特征与家庭因素,制定更具针对性的干预策略。 展开更多
