Then the influencing degrees of the factors are quantificationally analyzed by DEMATE (decision making trial and evaluation laboratory). The analysis results indicate that the traffic mode structure which achieves the highest central degree is the dominant influencing factor of the urban traffic system evolution, and that economy development and the traffic policy are the second important factors that also affect the Waffle mode structures. In the model, the growth rates or changing rates of transportation volumes for the various transportation modes of a city are determined not only by the GDP per capita which reflects the size of the city itself, but also by the relationship of competition and cooperation among transportation modes. The results of empirical analysis for Chinese cities show that the allometric growth exponent in the equation for the variation rate of passenger demand volume on rail is greater than the predicted value of 1/4 in metabolic ecology, whereas the allometric growth relationship is not so evident in the equation for the variation rate of passenger demand volume on road. The changing rate of road transportation is thus mainly affected by the relationship of competition and cooperation among transportation modes for Chinese cities.展开更多

As a major source of genetic novelties,gene duplication might play an important role in the functional innovation of vertebrate CNS.In this study,we focused on a group of CNS-biased genes that duplicated during early vertebrate evolution.We investigated the tempo-spatial expression patterns of 33 duplicate gene families and their orthologs during the embryonic development of the vertebrate Xenopus laevis and the cephalochordate Brachiostoma belcheri.Almost all the identified duplicate genes are differentially expressed in the CNS in Xenopus embryos,and more than 50%and 30%duplicate genes are expressed in the telencephalon and mid-hindbrain boundary,respectively,which are mostly considered as two innovations in the vertebrate CNS.Interestingly,more than 50%of the amphioxus orthologs do not show apparent expression in the CNS in amphioxus embryos as detected by in situ hybridization,indicating that some of the vertebrate CNS-biased duplicate genes might arise from non-CNS genes in invertebrates.Our data accentuate the functional contribution of gene duplication in the CNS evolution of vertebrate and uncover an invertebrate non-CNS history for some vertebrate CNS-biased duplicate genes.展开更多

However, recent studies have reported that some relicts evolutionarily...Tertiary relicts often show evolutionary stasis in morphology and ecology and have been hypothesized to retain stable population sizes in refugia. However, recent studies have reported that some relicts evolutionarily shifted their physiology, ecology, and morphology and experienced various patterns of demography. To understand the historical survival of relict plants, a multidimensional study investigating the evolution of ecological and morphological traits as well as population demographic history is needed. The genus Tanakaea (Saxifragaceae) comprises two species in China and Japan. These species share most vegetative characteristics and are sometimes treated as a single species. The distribution pattern is relictual, as the populations are confined to small areas in mesic warm temperate forests less influenced by Quaternary glacial climates. Focusing on the relictual plant group, this study tested the hypotheses of evolutionary stasis and population stability in long-term refugia. Genetic analyses using plastome sequences and genome-wide single-nucleotide polymorphisms revealed divergence of the two species approximately 6.8 million years ago and strong genetic differentiation of the regional populations. Demographic analysis revealed that almost all populations retained stable population sizes during glacial–interglacial climate changes, supporting the traditional view. However, morphological assessments revealed a simultaneous shift in breeding systems (from hermaphrodite to dioecyon-clonal to clonal reproduction) in Japanese species and intraspecific differentiation of leaf traits. Therefore, the relict species do not show evolutionary stasis in every aspect. Changes in reproductive characteristics may have contributed to their long-term in situ survival.展开更多

Re-Os radiometric dating of crude oil can be used to constrain the timing of hydrocarbon generation,migration or charge.This approach has been successfully applied to marine petroleum systems;however,this study report...Re-Os radiometric dating of crude oil can be used to constrain the timing of hydrocarbon generation,migration or charge.This approach has been successfully applied to marine petroleum systems;however,this study reports on its application to lacustrine-sourced natural crude oils.Oil s amples from multiple wells producing from the Cretaceous Nantun Formation in the Wuerxun-Beier depression of the Hailar Basin in NE China were analysed.Subsets of the Re-Os data are compatible with a Cretaceous hydrocarbon generation event(131.1±8.4 Ma)occurring within 10 Myr of deposition of the Nantun Formation source rocks.In addition,two younger age trends of 54±12 Ma and 1.28±0.69 Ma can be regressed from the Re-Os data,which may reflect the timing of subsequent hydrocarbon generation events.The Re-Os geochronometer,when combined with complementary age dating techniques,can provide direct temporal constraints on the evolution of petroleum system in a terrestrial basin.展开更多

The rec...Coastal dunes are among the most complex interfaces to study in the world. Improving the knowledge of their morphodynamics is essential to better understand the present evolutions and try to anticipate future. The recent use of the new vectors that are drones, UAV and UAS, improves the temporal and spatial resolutions of geomatic data acquired on these environments. Many studies attempt to measure the sedimentary variations that occur from one date to another by the use of differential volumes. In particular, they make it possible to understand the roles of storms, sometimes erosive, as well as the possible morphological responses of associated reconstruction periods. One of the primary methods for calculating volume evolutions is the assessment of a vertical delimitation of the dune toe. However, it is difficult to limit mobile and variable environment, temporally and spatially, to a simple vertical topographic delimitation. This study was realized to estimate the error induced by the use of the vertical threshold method. In the examples that were done, this error was far from being negligible and might in some cases exceed the evolutions of measured volumes. In overcoming this problem, an alternative method was developed. It was the seemingly better adaptability to these mobile environments that are the coastal dunes.展开更多
