Based on the linear elasticity theory of quasicrystals,this study addresses two defect problems in two-dimensional piezoelectric quasicrystals:rigid inclusions and holes.Using the Stroh formalism,Green’s function solutions are obtained for these defects under concentrated and uniformly distributed forces.Numerical examples are presented to analyze the mechanical behavior when loads are applied at various positions,including the center,outside,on the boundary,and at infinity of the elliptical defect.The study emphasizes the significant impact of the phonon line force on the distribution of key physical quantities.Results show that elliptical defects significantly disrupt multiple physical fields,leading to substantial variations in displacement and potential at the hole boundaries and pronounced stress concentrations.The stress in the phason field near the elliptical defect boundary exhibits complex variations under loading conditions,and the piezoelectric effect becomes more pronounced.These findings provide critical guidance for designing quasicrystal-based smart materials with controlled defect responses. 展开更多

In this paper,we obtain Green’s functions of two-dimensional(2D)piezoelectric quasicrystal(PQC)in half-space and bimaterials.Based on the elastic theory of QCs,the Stroh formalism is used to derive the general solutions of displacements and stresses.Then,we obtain the analytical solutions of half-space and bimaterial Green’s functions.Besides,the interfacial Green’s function for bimaterials is also obtained in the analytical form.Before numerical studies,a comparative study is carried out to validate the present solutions.Typical numerical examples are performed to investigate the effects of multi-physics loadings such as the line force,the line dislocation,the line charge,and the phason line force.As a result,the coupling effect among the phonon field,the phason field,and the electric field is prominent,and the butterfly-shaped contours are characteristic in 2D PQCs.In addition,the changes of material parameters cause variations in physical quantities to a certain degree. 展开更多

The multisublattice Green's function technique is applied to study the magnetic properties of a mixed spin-2 and spin-5/2 Heisenberg ferrimagnetic system on a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice. The role of the different interactions in the Hamiltonian is explored. When only the nearest-neighbor interaction and the single-ion anisotropy are included, our results indicate that there are compensation points at finite temperatures. When the next-nearest-neighbor interaction exceeds a minimum value that depends on the other parameters in the Hamiltonian, the compensation point disappears. The next-nearest-neighbor interaction has the effect of changing the compensation temperature. 展开更多

Controlled synthesis of two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks(2D COFs),including stoichiometric and sub-stoichiometric variations,is a topic of growing interest due to its potential in gas separation applications.In this study,we successfully synthesized three distinct 2D COFs by carefully adjusting solvent compositions and monomer ratios during the synthesis of[4+4]type COFs.These included a stoichiometric[4+4]type COF and two sub-stoichiometric[4+2]type COFs,featuring unreacted amino or formyl groups.The resulting COFs exhibit different gas adsorption and separation properties.Specifically,sub-stoichiometric COF-DA with residual amino groups shows comparable adsorption capacity for C2H2,C2H4,and CO2to stoichiometric COF-DAPy.In contrast,sub-stoichiometric COF-Py with residual formyl groups displays enhanced adsorption selectivity for C2H2/C2H4and C2H2/CO2separation,with the C2H2/C2H4selectivity being the highest among reported COFs,attributed to increased pore polarity resulting from the presence of formyl groups.This study not only offers an additional example of substoichiometric COF synthesis but also advocates for further exploration of sub-stoichiometric COF materials,particularly in the field of gas adsorption and separation. 展开更多

This study evaluated the change in regional left ventricular myocardial function in rats following acute occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) by using two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI). Sixty Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups, a myocardial infarction (MI) group, in which 50 rats were subjected to LAD occlusion for 30–45 min, and a sham-operated (SHAM) group that contained 10 rats serving as control. Echo-cardiography was performed at baseline and 1, 4 and 8 week(s) after the operation. High frequency two-dimensional images of left ventricular short axis at papillary muscle level were recorded. Peak systolic radial strain (PRS) and circumferential strain (PCS) were measured in the mid-ventricle in short-axis view by using EchoPAC workstation. Left ventricular internal diameter at diastole (LVIDd) and systole (LVIDs), fractional shortening (FS), ejection fraction (EF) and left ventricular mass (LVM) were measured by anatomical M-model echocardiography. Infarct size was measured using triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining 1 week and 8 weeks after the operation. Fibrosis of left ventricu-lar myocardium was displayed using Van Gieson staining 1 week after the infarction. In terms of the TTC staining results, the left ventricle fell into three categories: infarcted, peri-infarcted and remote myocardial regions. Compared with those at baseline and in the SHAM group, (1) PRS and PCS in the infarcted, peri-infarcted and remote myocardial regions were significantly decreased in the MI group within 1 week after the operation (P〈0.05) and the low levels lasted 8 weeks; (2) Compared with those at baseline, LVIDd, LVIDs, FS, EF and LVM in the MI group showed no significant dif-ference 1 week after the operation (P〉0.05). However, LVIDd, LVIDs and LVM were increased sig-nificantly 4 and 8 weeks after the operation (P〈0.05), and FS and EF were decreased substantially (P〈0.05). Van Gieson staining showed that fibrosis developed in all the three myocardial regions to varying degrees. It is concluded that 2D-STI is non-invasive and can be used to assess regional func-tion of myocardium with different blood supply in rats following acute occlusion of the LAD, and can be used as a sensitive and reliable means to follow up the process of left ventricular remodeling. 展开更多

The multifunctionality of green infrastructure(GI)has become an important component of sustainable urban development,influenced by the pressures associated with climate extremes and agglomeration of populations.The protection and construction of urban GI is an essential way of adapting to the national policy of high-quality development at the current stage.However,how GI is developed needs to be further discussed.In this study,Zhengzhou City,a centre city in China,as a case.We proposed an analytical framework of“functional assessment-correlation analysis-corridor network”in this study.It specifically refers to the assessment and the trade-off and synergy analysis of the six GI functions,namely stormwater management,climate regulation,landscape recreation,air quality,biodiversity and social vulnerability.This is based on the bivariate local indicators of spatial association and circuit theory methods.We found that the urban GI construction areas do not match the built-up areas of the city.Moreover,most of the GI functions were found to show synergistic effects,except for the trade-off with air quality.In addition,we constructed a GI network containing 12 GI hubs and 24 GI corridors to address the inequality in geospatial distribution of GI due to spatial heterogeneity.This paper provides a reliable strategic foundation for the relevant decision makers to optimize GI planning in Zhengzhou.It also provides a scientific reference for GI planning in similar areas to support sustainable habitat development in metropolitan areas. 展开更多

The clinically applied value of myocardial perfusion and systolic function in patients with coronary artery disease after coronary artery bypass surgery using real-time myocardial contrast echocardiography (RT-MCE) combined with two-dimensional strain echocardiography was assessed. Twenty patients underwent intravenous RT-MCE by intravenous injections of SonoVue before and after coronary artery bypass surgery. Two-dimensional images were recorded from the left ventricular four-chamber view, two-chamber view and the apical view before, and two weeks and three months after coronary artery bypass surgery, and the peak systolic longitudinal strain was measured. The results showed that myocardial perfusion was significantly increased after coronary artery bypass surgery in about 71.6% segments. In the group that myocardial perfusion was improved, the peak systolic longitu- dinal strain three months after bypass surgery was significantly higher than that before operation [(-15.78±5.91)% vs (-10.45±8.31)%, P〈0.05]. However, the parameters did not change in the group without myocardial perfusion improvement [(-10.33±6.53)% vs (-9.41±6.09)%, P〉0.05]. It was concluded that whether or not the improvement of myocardial perfusion can mirror the recovery trend of regional systolic function, two-dimensional strain echocardiography can observe dynamic change of regional systolic function. The combination of myocardial perfusion with two-dimensional strain echocardiography can more accurately assess the curative effectiveness of coronary artery bypass surgery. 展开更多

Increased human and industrial activities have exacerbated the release of toxic materials and acute envi-ronmental pollution in recent times.Biochar,a carbon-rich material produced from biomass,is gaining momentum as a versatile material for attaining a sustainable environment.The study reviews the application of functionalized biochar for energy storage,environmental remediation,catalysis,and sustainable agriculture,aiming to achieve a greener future.Thedeployment of crop residues as a renewable feedstock for biochar,and their properties,compositions,modification,and functionalization techniques are also discussed.Additionally,the avenues for applying functionalized biochar to achieve a greener future,future trends and innovations,challenges,and future research directions are highlighted.Despite the limitations of scalability,ecotoxicological risks,logistical issues,lack of characterization protocols,high production costs,poor social acceptance,and inadequate policy and regulatory frameworks,functionalized biochar offers a better surface area,improved porosity,enhanced functional groups,and higher recoverability,leading to improved performance,adsorption capacity,biodegradability,and applications in specialized fields.Future research should prioritize standardization,scalability,cost reduction strategies,expansion of application areas,integration of emerging tools such as artificial intelligence and predictive modeling,and the development of policy and regulatory frameworks,ensuring that biochar’s full potential is harnessed effectively to support a low-carbon,resource-efficient future and global sustainability goals. 展开更多

The band gaps structures of the photonic crystals for TE and TM waves are different from the two-dimensional conventional photonic crystals. Some absolute band gaps and semiDirac points are found. When the medium column radius and the function form of the dielectric constant are modulated, the numbers, width, and position of band gaps are changed, and the semi-Dirac point can either occur or disappear. Therefore,the special band gaps structures and semi-Dirac points can be achieved through the modulation on the two-dimensional function photonic crystals. The results will provide a new design method of optical devices based on the two-dimensional function photonic crystals. 展开更多

The integration of green manure(GM)crops into traditional cropping systems has regained attention for its potential to improve soil organic carbon(SOC)content in an environmentally sustainable way.However,the effects of carbon(C)input from different GM species on the SOC accumulation and recalcitrant C fractions across soil profile remain inadequately understood.This three-year field study in the North China Plain assessed SOC changes and C fractions of easily oxidizable carbon(EOC)and recalcitrant organic carbon(ROC)in fallow,rye,rapeseed,and vetch systems,with δ13C analysis for GM-derived C fraction and microbial C-decomposition functional genes.Our results showed that SOC was significantly increased by GMs.Rapeseed was the only species that improved SOC at 20–40 cm,the rapeseed-derived C contributed 2.48%of the SOC.Rye enhanced EOC and ROC at topsoil,rapeseed increased ROC at 20–60 cm,and vetch increased EOC at 40–60 cm.At the topsoil,the abundances of cellulose-and pectin-decomposition genes were increased in vetch and decreased in rye.At 20–40 cm,the pectin-and lignin-decomposition genes were markedly improved by rapeseed,while at 40–60 cm,the chitin-decomposition gene was increased in vetch,indicating the microbial promoting effects by deep roots of vetch and rapeseed.Our results suggest GM species infiuence SOC deposition depth and the recalcitrance of SOC decomposition,thereby affecting the distribution of SOC accumulation through microbial-driven C decomposition activities. 展开更多

The proportion of intense tropical cyclones is projected to increase under climate change,posing growing threats to global biodiversity.However,most existing research has been conducted in the North Atlantic region and has focused on their impacts on natural habitats,whereas other cyclone-prone but biodiversity-rich and human-disturbed ecosystems have been overlooked.Moreover,while functional traits are important in mediating species'responses to habitat change,their role remains understudied in cyclone contexts.To address these issues,we assessed the differences in bird communities before and after a super typhoon across two coastal habitat types in Haikou,southern China:urban green space and suburban habitats.We evaluated species richness,total abundance,community composition,and how functional traits shaped species'resilience to a super typhoon.We recorded 45 species and 1627 individuals from the field survey of 101.5-km-long transects.Species richness remained stable in both habitats after the typhoon.Bird abundance at the transect level declined in both habitats,but this decline was significant only in suburban habitats;community composition also shifted in both habitats due to species replacement and concurrent population gains and losses.Functional trait analysis indicated that species with a higher hand-wing index,lower body mass,or open-country habitat association were more vulnerable.These findings highlight the heightened vulnerability of suburban habitats to cyclonic disturbances and underscore the importance of incorporating functional trait analysis and non-forest ecosystems into climate impact assessments to inform more holistic biodiversity conservation strategies. 展开更多

The relationship between vegetation greening and climate change remains unclear due to its complexity, especially in drylands. Against the background of global warming, arid and semi-arid areas, including mid-latitude deserts, are most sensitive to climate change. In recent decades, the mechanisms underlying the relationship between vegetation greening and climate change have been widely discussed in the literature. However, the influence of vegetation greening in high latitudes on regional climate has not been fully studied. In this paper, a two-dimensional energy balance model was used to study the influence of greening in high latitudes on mid-latitude deserts. The authors found that when greening occurs in high latitudes, the mid-latitude desert recedes at the south boundary, while the polar ice belt and low-latitude vegetation belt both expand. Simultaneously, greening in high latitudes can induce a negative temperature anomaly in northern latitudes and a positive temperature anomaly in southern latitudes. The mid-latitude desert expands at its north and south boundaries until the CO2 concentration reaches 600 ppm(saturated state). The greening in high latitudes could result in a lower global-mean temperature in the ‘saturated’ state, due to the stronger cooling in high latitudes. 展开更多

The unusual properties of quasicrystals(QCs)have attracted tremendous attention from researchers.In this paper,a semi-analytical solution is presented for the static response of a functionally graded(FG)multilayered two-dimensional(2 D)decagonal QC rectangular plate with mixed boundary conditions.Based on the elastic theory of FG 2 D QCs,the state-space method is used to derive the state equations composed of partial differential along the thickness direction.Besides,the Fourier series expansion and the differential quadrature technique are utilized to simulate the simply supported boundary conditions and the mixed boundary conditions,respectively.Then,the propagator matrix which connects the field variables at the upper interface to those at the lower interface of any homogeneous layer can be derived based on the state equations.Combined with the interface continuity condition,the static response can be obtained by imposing the sinusoidal load on the top surfaces of laminates.Finally,the numerical examples are presented to verify the effectiveness of this method,and the results are very useful for the design and understanding of the characterization of FG QC materials in their applications to multilayered systems. 展开更多

B 26 024208 (2017)) investigated the band gap structures and semi-Dirac point of two-dimensional function photonic crystals, and the equations for the plane wave expansion method were induced to obtain the band structures. That report shows the band diagrams with the effects of function coefficient k and medium column ra under TE and TM waves. The proposed results look correct at first glance, but the authors made some mistakes in their report. Thus, the calculated results in their paper are incorrect. Defect engineering is a commonly methodology used to enhance the thermoelectric performance of thermoelectric PbTe by improving its electronic transport properties.At the nanoscale,defects can induce quantum tunneling effects that significantly impact the electrical properties of materials.To understand the specific mechanisms underlying the quantum transport properties of PbTe,we employ the non-equilibrium Green's function(NEGF)method to investigate the effects of intrinsic defects(point defects and grain boundaries)on the electronic transport properties of PbTe-based nanodevices from a quantum mechanical perspective.Our results show that the Pb vacancy(VPb)has the highest conduction.The conduction depends on the defect type,chemical potential and bias voltage.The presence of intrinsic point defects introduces impurity levels,facilitating the electron tunneling and leading to an increase in the transmission coefficient,thereby enhancing the electronic transport properties.For PbTe containing grain boundaries,these boundaries suppress the electronic transport properties.The Te occupied twin boundary(Te-TB)exerts a stronger inhibitory effect than the Pb occupied twin boundary(Pb-TB).Nevertheless,the combined effect between twin boundaries and point defects can enhance the electrical properties.Therefore,in order to obtain highly conductive of PbTe materials,a Te-rich synthesis environment should be used to promote the effective formation of Pb vacancy.Our work offers a comprehensive understanding of the impact of defects on electron scattering in thermoelectric materials. 展开更多

Understanding the effects of point liquid loading on transversely isotropic poroelastic media is crucial for advancing geomechanics and biomechanics, where precise modeling of fluid-structure interactions is essential. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of infinite transversely isotropic poroelasticity under a fluid source, based on Biot's theory, aiming to uncover new and previously unexplored insights in the literature. We begin our study by deriving a general solution for fluid-saturated, transversely isotropic poroelastic materials in terms of harmonic functions that satisfy sixth-order homogeneous partial differential equations, using potential theory and Almansi's theorem. Based on these general solutions and potential functions, we construct a Green's function for a point fluid source, introducing three new harmonic functions with undetermined constants. These constants are determined by enforcing continuity and equilibrium conditions. Substituting these into the general solution yields fundamental solutions for poroelasticity that provide crucial support for a wide range of project problems. Numerical results and comparisons with existing literature are provided to illustrate physical mechanisms through contour plots. Our observations reveal that all components tend to zero in the far field and become singular at the concentrated source. Additionally, the contours exhibit rapid changes near the point fluid source but display gradual variations at a distance from it. These findings highlight the intricate behavior of the system under point liquid loading, offering valuable insights for further research and practical applications. 展开更多
