At present, the commonly used methods to probe TM redox are hard X-ray absorption spectroscopy(hXAS) and soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy(sXAS).However, they are both facing challenges to precisely quantify the valence states of some transition metals such as Mn. In this paper, Mn-L iPFY(inverse partial fluorescence yield) spectra extracted from Mn-L m RIXS(mapping of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering) is adopted to quantify Mn valence states. Mn-L i PFY spectra has been considered as a bulk-sensitive, non-distorted probe of TM valence states. However, the exact precision of this method is still unclear in quantifying practical battery electrodes.Herein, a series of LiMn2O4 electrodes with different charge and discharge states are prepared. PESC membranes were prepared by solution casting method and were applied in ethanol recovery from aqueous solution via pervaporation. Elemental analysis(EA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), water contact angle(CA) measurement, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and X-ray scattering were employed to characterize the composition, structure and properties of PESCs. The results reveal that the investigated PESCs are similar in hydrophobicity but different in hierarchical nanostructures. In separating 5 wt% ethanol/water mixture, PESC membranes with high crystallinity will have both low flux and ethanol selectivity because of the high packing density and low permeability of crystalline regions. Meanwhile, the hierarchical nanostructures of PESC membranes change under pervaporation environment as was revealed by in situ synchrotron radiation X-ray scattering measurement. That is, the crystalline region could melt at high temperature in swelling state, thus consequently enhancing the ethanol selectivity.展开更多

Recently, the discovery of intrinsic antiferromagnetic(AFM) topological insulator MnBi2Te4 that could realize quantized anomalous Hall effect and axion insulator phase ignited intensive study on this family of TQM compounds. Here, we investigated the AFM compound Mn Bi4 Te7 where Bi2Te3 and MnBi2Te4 layers alternate to form a superlattice. Using spatial-and angleresolved photoemission spectroscopy, we identified ubiquitous(albeit termination dependent) topological electronic structures from both Bi2Te3 and MnBi2Te4 terminations. Unexpectedly, while the bulk bands show strong temperature dependence correlated with the AFM transition, the topological surface states with a diminishing gap show negligible temperature dependence across the AFM transition.Together with the results of its sister compound MnBi2Te4, we illustrate important aspects of electronic structures and the effect of magnetic ordering in this family of magnetic TQMs.展开更多

摘要Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES)and torque magnetometry(TM)measurements have been carried out to study the electronic structures of a correlated topological insulator(TI)candidate Yb B6.We observed clear surface states on the[001]surface centered at theГ^- and М^- points of the surface Brillouin zone.Interestingly, the fermiology revealed by the quantum oscillation of TM measurements agrees excellently with ARPES measurements. Moreover, the band structures we observed suggest that the band inversion in Yb B6 happens between the Yb5 dand B2bands,instead of the Yb5dand Yb4fbands as suggested by previous theoretical investigation, which will help settle the heavy debate regarding the topological nature of samarium/ytterbium hexaborides.

摘要Fast charging and high-power delivering batteries are highly demanded in mobile electronics, electric vehicles and grid energy storage, but there are full of challenges. The star-material Li3V2(PO4)3 is demonstrated as a promising high-rate cathode material meeting the above requirements.Herein,we report the carbon decorated Li3V2(PO4)3 (LVP/C) cathode prepared via a facile method, which displays a remarkable high-rate capability and long-term cycling performance.Briefly, the prepared LVP/C delivers a high discharge capacity of 122 mAh g-1(-93% of the theoretical capacity) at a high rate up to 20 C and a superior capacity retention of 87.1% after 1000 cycles.Importantly,by applying a combination of X-ray absorption spectroscopy and full-range mapping of resonant inelastic X-ray scattering,we clearly elucidate the structural and chemical evolutions of LVP upon various potentials and cycle numbers. We show unambiguous spectroscopic evidences that the evolution of the hybridization strength between V and O in LVP/C as a consequence of lithiation/delithiation is highly reversible both in the bulk and on the surface during the discharge-charge processes even over extended cycles, which should be responsible for the remarkable electrochemical performance of LVP/C.Our present study provides not only an effective synthesis strategy but also deeper insights into the surface and bulk electrochemical reaction mechanism of LVP,which should be beneficial for the further design of high-performance LVP electrode materials.

摘要Polyelectrolyte-surfactant complexes(PESCs) were fabricated through the interaction of poly(acrylic acid) and four different cationic surfactants or their mixtures. That is, the crystalline region could melt at high temperature in swelling state, thus consequently enhancing the ethanol selectivity.

摘要The performance of organic solar cells(OSCs)is governed by how molecular packing evolves into interconnected networks that facilitate exciton dissociation and charge transport.Using an all-small-molecule blend DR3TSBDT:Y6 as a model system,we study how local molecular stacking evolves into performance-relevant morphology during solvent vapor annealing(SVA)and subsequent thermal annealing(TA).SVA promotes end-to-end stacking of amorphous acceptors to form interconnected fibrils, while TA compacts inter-fibril spacing without disrupting favorable local order.Such molecular-to-morphological refinements broaden light absorption, enhance charge transport, and markedly improve device efficiency.Extending this approach to additional blend systems(D18:Y6,D18:L8-BO,and DR3TSBDT:L8-BO)yields similar structural evolution and performance gains, with the D18:L8-BO system achieving up to 20.10%PCE.Our study establishes control over local stacking in amorphous acceptors into fibrillar networks as a general and effective route to realize high-performance OSCs.

摘要Instant recognition and quantification of multicomponent organicmixtures, especially the oneswith similar characteristics, remains a key challenge in the chemical industry.Although luminescence sensing is considered a rapid and facile method for the detection of various chemical substances, the simultaneous and quantitative detection of three or more components has not yet been achieved.Herein,we report a rationally designed white-light-emitting metal–organic framework(MOF)EuTb@NKU-102,and demonstrate its application in the simultaneous discrimination of multicomponent organic mixtures.

摘要X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)produces a wealth of information about the local structure of materials, but interpretation of spectra often relies on easily accessible trends and prior assumptions about the structure.Recently, researchers have demonstrated that machine learning models can automate this process to predict the coordinating environments of absorbing atoms from their XAS spectra. However, machine learning models are often difficult to interpret, making it challenging to determine when they are valid and whether they are consistent with physical theories. In this work,we present three main advances to the data-driven analysis of XAS spectra:we demonstrate the efficacy of random forests in solving two new property determination tasks(predicting Bader charge and mean nearest neighbor distance),we address how choices in data representation affect model interpretability and accuracy, and we show that multiscale featurization can elucidate the regions and trends in spectra that encode various local properties.
摘要Operando X-ray micro-computed tomography(µCT)provides an opportunity to observe the evolution of Li structures inside pouch cells.Segmentation is an essential step to quantitatively analyzingµCT datasets but is challenging to achieve on operando Li-metal battery datasets due to the low X-ray attenuation of the Li metal and the sheer size of the datasets.Herein,we report a computational approach, batteryNET,to train an Iterative Residual U-Net-based network to detect Li structures. The resulting semantic segmentation shows singular Li-related component changes, addressing diverse morphologies in the dataset. In addition, visualizations of the dead Li are provided, including calculations about the volume and effective thickness of electrodes, deposited Li,and redeposited Li.We also report discoveries about the spatial relationships between these components. The approach focuses on a method for analyzing battery performance, which brings insight that significantly benefits future Li-metal battery design and a semantic segmentation transferrable to other datasets.

摘要Magnetic topological quantum materials(TQMs) provide a fertile ground for the emergence of fascinating topological magneto-electric effects. Unexpectedly, while the bulk bands show strong temperature dependence correlated with the AFM transition, the topological surface states with a diminishing gap show negligible temperature dependence across the AFM transition.Together with the results of its sister compound MnBi2Te4, we illustrate important aspects of electronic structures and the effect of magnetic ordering in this family of magnetic TQMs.

摘要Two-dimensional(2D)layered transition metal carbidesitrides, called MXenes, are attractive alternative electrode materials for electrochemical energy storage.Owing to their metallic electrical conductivity and low ion dif-fusion barrier,MXenes are promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).Herein,we report on a new 2D carbonitride MXene,viz.,Ti2C0.5N0.5Tx(Tx stands for surface terminations),and the only second carbonitride after Ti3 CNTx so far.A new type of in situ HF(HCl/KF)etching condition was employed to synthesize multilayer Ti2C0.5N0.5Tx powders from Ti2AlC0.5N0.5.Spontaneous intercalation of tetramethylammonium followed by sonication in water allowed for large-scale delamination of this new titanium carbonitride into 2D sheets.Multilayer Ti2C0.5N0.5Tx powders showed higher specific capac-ities and larger electroactive surface area than those of Ti2CTx powders.Multi-layer Ti2C0.5N0.5Tx powders show a specific capacity of 182 mAh g-1 at 20 mA g-1,the highest among all reported MXene electrodes as SIBs with excellent cycling stability.

摘要Individual atomic defects in 2D materials impact their macroscopic functionality.Correlating the interplay is challenging, however, intelligent hyperspectral scanning tunneling spectroscopy(STS)mapping provides a feasible solution to this technically difficult and time consuming problem. Here, dense spectroscopic volume is collected autonomously via Gaussian process regression, where convolutional neural networks are used in tandem for spectral identification.Acquired data enable defect segmentation, and a workflow is provided for machine-driven decision making during experimentation with capability for user customization. We provide a means towards autonomous experimentation for the benefit of both enhanced reproducibility and user-accessibility.Hyperspectral investigations on WS2sulfur vacancy sites are explored, which is combined with local density of states confirmation on the Au{111}herringbone reconstruction.Chalcogen vacancies, pristine WS2,Au face-centered cubic, and Au hexagonal close-packed regions are examined and detected by machine learning methods to demonstrate the potential of artificial intelligence for hyperspectral STS mapping.

摘要Diamonds form in a variety of environments between subducted crust, lithospheric and deep mantle.Recently, deep source diamonds with inclusions of the high-pressure H2O-phase ice-VII were discovered.By correlating the pressures of ice-VII inclusions with those of other high-pressure inclusions,we assess quantitatively the pressures and temperatures of their entrapment. We show that the iceVII-bearing diamonds formed at depths down to 800±60 km but at temperatures 200–500 K below average mantle temperature that match the pressure-temperature conditions of decomposing dense hydrous mantle silicates. Our work presents strong evidence for coupled recycling of water and carbon in the deep mantle based on natural samples.

摘要Type-II iron-based superconductors(Fe-SCs),the alkali-metal-intercalated iron selenide AxFe2−ySe2(A=K,Tl,Rb,etc.)with a superconducting transition temperature of 32 K,exhibit unique properties such as high Néel temperature,Fe-vacancies ordering, antiferromagnetically ordered insulating state in the phase diagram, and mesoscopic phase separation in the superconducting materials. In particular, the electronic and structural phase separation in these systems has attracted intensive attention since it provides a platform to unveil the insulating parent phase of type-II Fe-SCs that mimics the Mott parent phase in cuprates. In this work,we use spatial-and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to study the electronic structure of superconducting KxFe2−ySe2.We observe clear electronic phase separation of KxFe2−ySe2 into metallic islands and insulating matrix, showing different K and Fe concentrations. While the metallic islands show strongly dispersive bands near the Fermi level, the insulating phase shows an energy gap up to 700 meV and a nearly flat band around 700 meV below the Fermi energy, consistent with previous experimental and theoretical results on the superconducting K1−xFe2Se2(122 phase)and Fe-vacancy ordered K0.8Fe1.6Se2(245 phase),respectively. Our results not only provide important insights into the mysterious composition of phase-separated superconducting and insulating phases of KxFe2−ySe2,but also present their intrinsic electronic structures, which will shed light on the comprehension of the unique physics in type-II Fe-SCs.
